đźš“ National Police Week đźš“

During National Police Week, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank the law enforcement officers who work tirelessly to protect and serve our communities every day.

At the Children’s Advocacy Center, we are especially grateful for the officers who stand alongside children and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Your compassion, dedication, and commitment to justice help create safer futures for the children in our community.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

At the CAC, we recognize that healing doesn’t stop with safety—it continues with emotional and mental support.

Children who have experienced abuse often carry invisible wounds. That’s why our counseling services are such an important part of the work we do. Through trauma-informed care, our team helps children process what they’ve been through, build resilience, and begin to heal in a safe and supportive environment.

Mental health matters every month, but in May we especially shine a light on the importance of awareness, understanding, and access to care.

If you or someone you know needs support, you are not alone. Healing is possible, and help is here.

If you know someone who has walked through abuse who could benefit from our services, give us a call today 256-927-2111.

Today, on National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day, we stand with the children and families in our community and recognize the importance of emotional healing, support, and hope. 💚

At the CAC, we see firsthand how trauma and abuse can impact a child’s mental health. Through advocacy, counseling, and compassionate support, we work to help children feel safe, heard, and empowered on their path toward healing.

Every child deserves the chance to grow up knowing they are valued, supported, and never alone.

💚 National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day 💚

Children’s mental health is just as important as physical health. When children feel supported, safe, and heard, they are better able to grow, learn, and thrive. Together, we can help build strong foundations for lifelong well-being.

Trust your instincts. They are there to protect you.

If something feels off, unsafe, or uncomfortable—pay attention. Abuse doesn’t always start big. It often begins with subtle behaviors that are easy to dismiss.

Watch for red flags like:
🚩Controlling behavior or isolation from others
🚩Sudden changes in mood or aggression
🚩Disrespecting boundaries, even after being told “no”
🚩Fearfulness around a person or place
🚩Pressure, manipulation, or secrecy

If you see something, say something. Speaking up could protect a child or help someone find safety.

Awareness matters. Action matters.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we recognize the important role educators can play in a child’s life.

We know that many teachers go beyond the classroom—creating safe spaces, building trust, and noticing when something may not be right.

At the Child Advocacy Center, we’re grateful for the educators who partner with us to support children, recognize signs of abuse, and help connect families to resources when it matters most.

It takes a community to protect a child—and teachers are an important part of that.

Thank you to those who show up, pay attention, and help make a difference. đź’™

We loved attending the Chamber of Commerce’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday. It was a wonderful way to honor where we’ve been over the past 250 years as a country and to look ahead with excitement to the next 250. The Chamber of Commerce did a wonderful job, as they always do, and continues to be a strong and reliable partner in our community.

We are thankful for the many ways they advocate for our mission, along with all the many other ways they contribute to our amazing community. ❤️
