🚨SCAM ALERT: Spot the Difference🚨
We’ve received several calls today about a “Sgt. Johnson” allegedly working with our agency and asking people for money to “take care of” supposed arrest warrants.
To be clear: we do not have a Sergeant Johnson.
We do have a Deputy Johnson. We spoke with him, and he confirmed he has not been calling anyone to ask for money to alleviate arrest warrants because that’s not a thing law enforcement does.
On the left ⬅️: “Fake Sgt. Johnson,” calling folks, claiming you have a warrant, and asking for money over the phone.
On the right➡️: Deputy Johnson (real), an actual employee of the Sheriff’s Office who does none of that.
Here’s the important part👇
We do NOT have a Sergeant Johnson.
We DO have a Deputy Johnson, and he, along with any other Sheriff’s Office employee, will NEVER call you to demand payment, gift cards, wire transfers, or any form of money to “fix” a warrant.
If someone calls you claiming to be law enforcement and asks for money:
Hang up.
It’s a scam.
Report it.
If you actually have a warrant, trust us, you won’t be handling it with Apple gift cards and a phone call.
Stay sharp and help us spread the word. Stay Safe, Cherokee County.
