📢 Employment Opportunity – City of Centre

The City of Centre is pleased to announce that Melissa Washburn will transfer to the recently approved Building Permit & Business License Clerk position, effective October 1.

As a result of this transition, the position of Accounting Clerk & Communications Coordinator will be open, and the City of Centre is now accepting applications.

Happy National Volunteer Firefighters Day! 🚒❤️

Today is National Volunteer Firefighters Day, and I want to take a moment to recognize the men and women who give their time, training, and dedication to protect their communities.

Did you know that approximately 65% of firefighters across the United States are volunteers? In Alabama, approximately 79% of firefighters are volunteers.

And yes — Centre Fire Department is a volunteer fire department. 🇺🇸🚒

Being a volunteer firefighter is different from being just any other volunteer. Our volunteers spend countless hours training, maintaining equipment, attending meetings and drills, and preparing to respond when someone in our community needs help. And they do all of this after working their regular jobs, spending time with their families, and taking care of their own responsibilities.
When the tones drop, they leave what they're doing and answer the call — often not knowing what they're walking into.

To the men and women of Centre Fire Department, thank you for your sacrifice, dedication, courage, and willingness to serve your neighbors. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and our community is safer because of each and every one of you.

Please join me in wishing our Centre Fire Department volunteers a very Happy National Volunteer Firefighters Day!

🚨 Stop the Bleed Training at Centre Fire Department 🚨

Centre Fire Department took part in a Stop the Bleed course Monday evening, taught by Officer Thompson. We know everyone has busy schedules, so we truly appreciate you taking the time to come out and provide this valuable training to our firefighters!

Stop the Bleed training gives our members additional skills and knowledge that can make a difference when seconds count. The CFD is committed to continuing our training and preparing our firefighters to better serve and protect the Centre community.

We were also honored to have a special guest join us for the training — Mayor Howell! 👨‍🚒

We want to thank Mayor Howell and the Centre City Council for their continued support of the Centre Fire Department. Your support helps make training opportunities like this possible and allows us to continue investing in our firefighters and the safety of our community.

Centre Fire Department had a great time joining Park & Rec for their soccer camp last night! ⚽️🚒

We had a great turnout and loved getting the opportunity to spend time with the kids, families, and our community. We were even able to capture a few awesome aerial photos with our drone!

We love getting out of the station for all the good reasons—especially when it means supporting our community and connecting with the people we serve. ❤️

A big thank you to Centre Parks and Recreations for inviting us and for everything you do for the kids in our community!
