We’ve done it again! The Ellis Fischel Cancer Center Mammography Van will be returning to the Centralia City Square (in front of City Hall) on October 12, 2021. This event is sponsored by the City of Centralia to honor those currently battling or whom have unfortunately passed due to Breast Cancer . The month of October is important to our police department and to encourage early detection and awareness, you will see officers wearing pink morning bands across their respective badges as well as pink magnetic ribbons on our patrol vehicles. You are urged to contact coordinator, Officer L. Feger at [email protected] for additional information. You can follow the link below to sign up.

The Centralia Police Department would like to introduce our Explorers. Over the last six months, these six explorers (age 14 to 21) have participated in an excess of 20+ hours of lectures and practical scenarios. Courses such as Introduction to Constitutional and Statutory Law with Centralia Officer R. Dulany (former Director of the Moberly Law Enforcement Training Center), Law Enforcement Perception with Lieutenant Hestir and Sergeant Sinclair from the Columbia Police Department, Fourth Amendment Introduction with Centralia Lieutenant Kribbs, S*x Crimes with Investigations Supervisor Kimberly Greubner from the Missouri State Technical Assistance Team and other scenarios such as Active Shooter, Building Searches, Traffic Control, Traffic Stops and Use of Force.

In the months to come, our explorers will interact with members of the Audrain and Boone County Sheriff's Office, Audrain County 911, and Victim Advocate, Leigh Thomas with the Audrain County Prosecutor's Office. Our police explorers are held to the same expectations and standards of our patrol officers, and we expect them to recieve only the best training.

We would like to thank our instructors for the time they have volunteered, by teaching these young men and women interested in a career in Law Enforcement.

The City is starting the Water Plant up gradually starting Friday, July 16th and wanted to inform the residents that you could encounter a few taste issues going forward for a few days. The water is being tested hourly and there is little chance of any contaminants, as we are meeting all DNR standards. The process will have lime being fed for softening and this has not been used in the last 4 months, so taste and clarity may be different than what you have had. The end goal is to get the water back to where it was prior and we are doing everything to assure that you have great tasting water again. If you feel anything is unusually out of order, please call City Hall at 573-682-2139. Thank you for your cooperation during this time!
