As we wrap up Main Street Week, we’re celebrating one of the things we love most about downtown: possibility.

Main Street is where possibilities take shape. It’s where a vacant space becomes a thriving business, a simple idea becomes a community event, and neighbors come together to create something bigger than themselves.

In downtown Centralia, possibility is found in the people who choose to invest, volunteer, dream, and take action. Every improvement, every new business, and every community gathering starts with someone believing that something great can happen here.

Thank you for being part of the possibilities that continue to shape our downtown. The work of revitalization doesn’t end with Main Street Week. In many ways, it’s just getting started.

One of the most encouraging findings from our Downtown Centralia Parking Survey is just how connected our community is to downtown.

Of nearly 300 survey responses:
39.7% visit downtown daily
44.6% visit weekly
11.5% visit monthly
Only 4.2% visit rarely

That means more than 84% of respondents are in downtown at least once a week.

Whether you’re grabbing coffee, shopping local, attending events, working, dining, or simply passing through, downtown continues to be a place people choose to spend their time.

As we evaluate parking, it’s important to understand not only where people park, but how often they use downtown. This data helps us better understand current patterns and plan for the future while supporting the businesses, organizations, residents, and visitors who make downtown vibrant.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey and helped us build a clearer picture of downtown Centralia. ❤️

Investing in Main Street is about more than improving buildings or hosting events. It is about strengthening the heart of our community.

Every flower basket, storefront improvement, small business opening, community gathering, and volunteer hour contributes to a stronger downtown and a stronger Centralia. When we invest in our historic downtown, we create places people want to visit, businesses want to grow in, and families want to spend time in.

At the Centralia Downtown Association, we see the impact every day. Local investments create local opportunities. They support entrepreneurs, preserve our history, attract visitors, and build community pride that benefits all of Centralia.

A thriving Main Street doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because people, businesses, organizations, and partners choose to invest in the future of the place they call home.

As these blooms brighten our downtown streets, they serve as a beautiful reminder of a life remembered and cherished. We are grateful to those who choose to honor loved ones through our Flower Basket Program, helping make downtown Centralia a more welcoming and vibrant place for all.

Thank you for celebrating Scott’s memory while investing in the beauty of our community.

We’re a historic downtown surrounded by agriculture, industry, recreation, and small communities that all help shape who we are. On any given day, our downtown welcomes local residents, commuters, visitors, students, entrepreneurs, farmers, and families from across the region.

That connection between urban and rural is one of our greatest strengths.

At the Centralia Downtown Association, we see downtown as a gathering place for the entire region. It’s where people come together to shop, celebrate, do business, explore history, and create memories. From Summerfest and community events to supporting local businesses and preserving our historic character, our work is rooted in creating a downtown that serves both residents and visitors alike.

A strong downtown doesn’t just benefit one neighborhood or one group of people. It creates opportunities that ripple throughout the community and beyond, helping connect people, ideas, and resources across Lewis County.

That’s the power of Main Street. It helps communities of all sizes find common ground and build a stronger future together.

One of the things we were most excited about when launching our Downtown Parking Survey was hearing from a wide variety of people who use downtown Centralia.

The results show that this conversation extends far beyond our downtown core:

44.6% Centralia residents (not living downtown)
21.3% Visitors
15.7% Downtown business owners
10.8% Downtown employees
7.7% Downtown residents

With nearly 300 responses collected, we heard from people who live, work, shop, dine, and spend time downtown in many different ways. That broad participation helps ensure we are looking at parking through multiple perspectives, not just one.

As we continue reviewing survey responses alongside our parking occupancy data, we are building a clearer picture of how parking is being used and where opportunities may exist to improve the downtown experience.

Thank you to everyone who took the survey and shared their perspective. Community input is an important part of creating solutions that work for both today and the future of downtown Centralia.

Stay tuned as we continue sharing key findings from the survey!
