Huge thank you to Jim McCarthy for providing some holiday entertainment for MHP today. He also made sure to incorporate some character songs for our students to sing along to! We hope to see everyone at the PTA Holiday Party tonight. The McCarthy clan will be there providing the entertainment!

WOW! What an exciting past week it has been at Millard Hawk Primary. Our character word of the month, responsibility, has been practiced and preached in many capacities:

1. Representaives from the Central Square, West Monroe, and Hastings Fire Departments, as well as SOVAC, spent an entire morning with us! They taught us how to be fire safe and responsible in an emergency. They also allowed us to jump up in their big engines and ambulances! A huge thank you to our local fire fighters and paramedics who help to keep our community safe.

2. We also had an assembly on the importance of being responsible on the computer. Some interactive friends joined us to teach us how to be internet safe and what to do if we encounter any of the internet dangers that loom out there.

3. Our very own Central Square Varsity Football Team joined us today to read a book to our students. Two to three student-athletes spent some time in each classroom as they read a book and talked about why it is important to be responsible on the field and off of the field. Good luck to the Redhawks tonight!!!

Huge thank you to Mrs. Payne and Ms. Stalsonberg's classes for a teaching us how to be "Bucket Fillers" in our first assembly of the year! Our new principal, Mrs. Veil, is proud to have joined a school community that prides itself on Character Education!

At Millard Hawk, we practice what we teach! Teachers volnteered tonight at the Rescue Mission and served 215 dinners to the needy and homeless in the Syracuse area. Some of the same individuals we served dinner to tonight were recipients of the blankets we made last month! Way to go Millard Hawk staff (and friends from A.A. Cole and Brewerton as well)!

Millard Hawk Primary School in Central Square is showing their "knots" of love. In NewsChannel 9's Cool Schools, students are knitting blankets and and donating them around Central NY.

The entire Millard Hawk Primary family should be extremely proud!

Thanks to the Millard Hawk Primary School, the Central Square community and members of CSI over 200 fleece blankets were created to care for our neighbors experiencing homelessness! [Inspired by faculty member, Kyle Sauer and the Character Education Committee] Thank you!

What a great afternoon here at Millard Hawk as students were able to see the recipients of the blankets that they put so much hard work into! Thank you to the representatives from the Rescue Mission, Downstairs Scotty, and the Military personnel from Hancock Airport who came this afternoon and provided a meaningful experience for our students!

The Millard Hawk Community showed just how great their character is as our Character Education initiative "Knots of Love" hit its climax today with the tying of over 200 blankets. We will be giving these blankets away to those in need in and around our community. Stay tuned to see some of the recipients of these awesome blankets made by the loving and caring hands of our community!
