The Clerk’s office is devastated to announce that last Thursday, our dear friend and colleague Inge, made her transition. Please be patient with staff while we grieve and adapt to this new normal. Inge was a kind and big hearted soul with a fiesty spirit who will be missed. Please take a moment and be kind…do something nice for someone, look in on a neighbor, pet an animal, foster/adopt a cat or dog and spread kindness like wildfire.

USPS MAIL BALLOT RULE: WHAT GILPIN COUNTY VOTERS SHOULD KNOW

You may have heard about a new U.S. Postal Service rule concerning election ballots.

Yesterday’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling has not impacted voting in Colorado. A nationwide court order protecting mail ballots remains in effect.

Here’s what Gilpin County voters need to know:

The rule will not affect Gilpin County’s November 3, 2026, General Election under its current legal status.

If implemented in the future, the rule would add administrative steps for election offices when mailing ballots. It would not change:
• Who is eligible to vote
• How ballots are issued, verified or counted
• The security or secrecy of your ballot
• The availability of ballot drop boxes
• Colorado’s ballot-return deadline

Gilpin County’s Elections team is monitoring the situation and coordinating with the Colorado Secretary of State and USPS. If anything changes, we will share accurate information with voters.

For trusted election information, follow the Gilpin County Clerk & Recorder’s Office and other official election sources.
