A Shift picked up where C Shift left off today at Central City Elementary School, continuing the delivery of premium, high-quality H2O.

The students made sure our crews were properly welcomed with plenty of smiles and waves.

We’re thankful for the opportunity to spend time with the students and staff at CCES and proud of the relationships we continue to build with our school and community.

And as for SRO Cummings… your streak of staying dry is running out. The last day of school is getting closer!

C Shift was invited to Central City Elementary today to bring some high quality H2O.
The kiddos ran around and demonstrated ✨the seal✨ to our members and somehow, a couple CCES staff members ended up in the spray zone. 👀🌊

We’re grateful to have fantastic relationships with our schools and our youth.

(SRO Cummings wouldn’t partake in the water festivities, so we’ll be waiting on the last day of school 😏)

Y’all remember how we said there’s a lot taking place and how we want to offer more to our community than the previous “standard”?

Speaking of effort, how about ya guys making big steps toward bettering themselves, our county and putting our citizens first? 👏🏽
Did you know if a confined space rescue was needed in Muhlenberg, the closest CSRT is an hour away drive time? Now let’s put that into a real world scenario. You call 911, the incident is created and paged. Our crews immediately go en route, request our mutual aid partners at Bowling Green, Owensboro or Daviess County and confirm the incident. Now what? Usually, we’d assess the incident and wait until the guys show up and get to work while we assist. That could be over an hour, including the drive, mutual aid agreements and getting set up.
Not for long. 🙂‍↔️
Last week, some of your CCFD firefighters attended a Confined Space Rescue class.
With the purchase of equipment, revamping apparatus and adding new additions, and countless upcoming hours of tying knots, hoisting tools, dummy’s and fellow firefighters, your members will have a confined space rescue team.
We’re extremely grateful for our city administrators as well as the support from you, Central City.
There’s a lot happening behind the scenes, revamping SOP’s, creating policies, networking and collaborations; we’re just excited to show a glimpse of some of the work being demonstrated. We’ve got a long way to go, but we’re slowly getting there one step at a time.
Be on the lookout for grant announcements, new deliveries and a whole lot of training. We appreciate you, Central City.

International Firefighters Day?!?

Let’s take a look back on the 4 months on some of the things YOUR firefighters have done. 💪🏽
From snow storms, residential fires, station upgrades and everything in between, our crews stay busy and make the most out of every situation.
Our city is blessed to have the dedicated members we do, as well as an administration that supports our efforts. 👏🏽
Thank you to our members, as well all the other firefighters this country has. What would the City of Central City Police Department do without us? 😎

Fighting for One of Our Own: Kristan Groves 💗🥊

There are moments in this job that remind us what “family” truly means.

This is one of them.

Phillip Groves has spent years answering the call—showing up on people’s worst days, putting others before himself, and serving Muhlenberg County without hesitation.

Now, his family needs us.

His wife, Kristan, is in the fight of her life, battling breast cancer with incredible strength and courage. And just like any fireground—we don’t leave our own behind.

We show up.
We stand together.
We fight beside them.

💗 Wear the Fight We’ve created this design to represent Kristan—a warrior in a fire helmet and boxing gloves—because that’s exactly what she is. And when you wear it, you’re showing she’s not fighting alone… none of them are.

Every Shirt Tells a Story Every purchase directly supports Phillip and Kristan during this difficult time. It helps lift some of the weight so they can focus on what matters most—fighting, healing, and being together.

But it’s more than that.

It’s a message.
It’s a promise.
It’s a reminder that this fire family stands strong—no matter what.

Let’s show them the strength of this community. Let’s surround them with support. Let’s fight with them.

Standing With the Groves Family | Central City Fire Department

The Central City Fire Department is more than a team—we are a family. And right now, one of our own needs us.

Phillip Groves has spent years serving the citizens of Muhlenberg County, answering the call whenever others were in need. Today, we’re asking our community to help us answer a call for him and his wife, Kristan, as she courageously fights breast cancer.

💗 The Symbol of Her Fight
We’ve created a special design to honor Kristan’s strength—a woman in boxing gloves and a fire helmet, representing both her fight and the fire family standing beside her. A heart bearing her name reminds us that she is at the center of our thoughts and prayers.

🔥 How You Can Help
We’ve made it easy for everyone to show support with multiple options:
• T-Shirts & Youth T-Shirts
• Long Sleeve Shirts
• Hoodies

✔️ Direct Impact: A portion of every purchase goes directly to Phillip and Kristan
✔️ Show Your Support: Wearing this gear shows they are not alone in this fight

Phillip has always been there for this community—now it’s our turn to be there for him and Kristan.

❤️ We love them, and we thank you for standing with us.
