Tornado warning for west central Merrick SE Howard and northern Hall counties until 5:15 PM radar indicated tornado near Cairo moving northeast at 35 mph.

⚠️ Central City is currently under a Tornado Watch until 11 PM. ⚠️

A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for severe storms and possible tornado development. Now is the time to prepare and stay alert — not panic.

🌪️ Tornado Safety Reminders:
• Keep your phone charged and weather alerts turned on
• Know where you will take shelter if a warning is issued
• The safest place is a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor, away from windows
• Have shoes, flashlights, medications, and important items easily accessible
• Avoid traveling unless necessary during severe weather
• Never try to outrun a tornado in a vehicle if you can safely seek shelter nearby

Please continue monitoring local weather updates and be prepared to act quickly if conditions worsen.

That is a wrap for another year of Jr. Fire Patrol at Central City Fire Department. This year's officers are: Lieutenants-Jasmine Ferguson and Winston Schweitzer. Captains: Nolan Mildenstein and Reid Peters. Assistant Chief: Serena Maw. Chief: Willow Peterson. Thank you to Ann Heinen and Cornerstone Insurance for the pizza, cookies, pop, water and supplying our workbooks and all our other supplies to be able to bring this program to the area 4th graders.

Reminder the last Jr. Fire Patrol is tomorrow May 12th. There will be a test, water fight and pizza. Please bring extra clothes to change into after the water fight, also being a towel. See you all at 7:00pm.

Tonight's lesson was on First Aid and Rescue. Learned how to climb a ladder safely. May 12th will be the test, water fight and pizza.
