Brett Mohler for Iowa has done incredible work here, for all of us. Please pay attention.
I have been building something quietly since July, and today it goes live: https://iowaledger.com
It is called Iowa Ledger. It pulls together every campaign finance report filed with the state since 1999, every recorded floor vote of the legislature, FEC filings for out-of-state PACs, and every lobbyist declaration in one place. Every number links directly back to the original government record.
I design tools for a living. My day job is data, systems, and building things people can actually use. This is what happens when I point those skills at public information instead of a factory floor.
It is built for voters of every party. You can see who is funding the candidates on your ballot this November, and track how they vote once they are in office.
Here is what you can do with it:
🔹Search by district: Enter your district number to pull up every race on your ballot and the donors backing each candidate.
🔹Inspect lawmakers: Pick any of Iowa's 150 legislators to see who funded their campaign right next to their roll-call votes.
🔹Explore the money map: Track $73.5M in donations since 2023, pinpointed to the donor's hometown.
Both parties get the exact same treatment. That includes me. I am running as a Democrat for Iowa House District 26, and my race is on the site under the same standards as everyone else. Accountability requires transparency.
Check it out, verify the numbers, and share what you find. One person cannot dig through every filing alone. It takes everyday Iowans keeping a watchful eye on our political system to make it work.
Let's build a better Iowa, together.
