On yesterday, personnel from all Houston County first responders were celebrated by the Sacred Hearts Assembly 179. Each agency nominated an employee as Employee of the Year. This year, Officer Tavyonne Dallis King was selected from the Centerville Police Department.

Officer Dallis King has had a good year this year. She has achieved her Masters Degree, she was recently married, and now, she has achieved the Officer of the Year reward. Thank you Officer King for all you do for the citizens of Centerville, Georgia

⚡🏠 AVOID OVERLOADED OUTLETS & EXTENSION CORDS 🏠⚡

Many home electrical fires can be prevented by using outlets, power strips, and extension cords properly.

When too many devices are plugged into a single outlet or power strip, wires can overheat and create a serious fire hazard. High-powered appliances such as air conditioners, space heaters, microwaves, and refrigerators should always be plugged directly into a wall outlet.

Electrical Safety Tips:

✅ Use extension cords only for temporary purposes.
✅ Plug one high-wattage appliance into each outlet.
✅ Use power strips with built-in surge protection.
✅ Replace damaged or frayed cords immediately.
✅ Keep cords visible and free from furniture, rugs, and doorways.
✅ Have a qualified electrician inspect outlets that spark, feel warm, or show signs of damage.

Avoid These Dangerous Practices:

❌ Overloading outlets with multiple adapters.
❌ Connecting power strips to other power strips.
❌ Running extension cords under carpets or rugs.
❌ Using indoor extension cords outdoors.
