Not all e-bikes are the same. Knowing which class of e-bike you have can help you understand where you can ride and what rules apply.

🟢 CLASS 1 E-BIKE
(Pedal-assist only, up to 20 MPH)

✅ Allowed on roads
✅ Allowed on Arkansas State Park bicycle trails
✅ Allowed on mountain bike trails
✅ Allowed on multi-use trails

❌ No throttle

📋 No driver’s license, motorcycle endorsement, registration, insurance, or title required.

🟡 CLASS 2 E-BIKE
(Throttle-powered, up to 20 MPH)

✅ Allowed on roads

❌ Not allowed on Arkansas State Park mountain bike trails
❌ Not allowed on Arkansas State Park multi-use bicycle trails

📋 No driver’s license, motorcycle endorsement, registration, insurance, or title required.

🔴 CLASS 3 E-BIKE
(Pedal-assist only, up to 28 MPH)

✅ Allowed on roads

❌ Not allowed on Arkansas State Park mountain bike trails
❌ Not allowed on Arkansas State Park multi-use bicycle trails

📋 No driver’s license, motorcycle endorsement, registration, insurance, or title required.

⚠️ Additional Requirements:
• Must be at least 16 years old to operate.
• Riders and passengers under 21 years old must wear a helmet.
• Must be equipped with a speedometer.

🚨 COMMUNITY SAFETY REMINDER: E-BIKES, SCOOTERS & MOTORIZED RIDING DEVICES 🚨

The Centerton Police Department has received concerns from residents regarding unsafe operation of e-bikes, electric scooters, and other motorized riding devices throughout our community.

Recently, there have been reports of riders failing to stop at stop signs, entering roadways without yielding to traffic, and operating at unsafe speeds. In several cases, motorists have had to take evasive action to avoid serious collisions.

Parents and guardians, we ask that you take a moment to speak with your children about safe riding practices, including:

✅ Obeying all traffic signs and signals
✅ Stopping at stop signs and yielding when required
✅ Riding at safe and reasonable speeds
✅ Remaining alert to vehicles, pedestrians, and other roadway users
✅ Wearing a helmet and other appropriate safety gear
✅ Using lights and reflective equipment when riding after dark
✅ Understanding that roads are shared by everyone

A serious injury can happen in an instant. Taking a few minutes to discuss safety today could prevent a tragedy tomorrow.

As summer break is in full swing, more children are outside riding bikes, playing with friends, walking to parks, and enjoying their neighborhoods.

The Centerton Police Department has received numerous complaints regarding speeding in residential areas and will be increasing patrols and traffic enforcement throughout the city.

Please remember:

* 🚨 The standard speed limit in residential neighborhoods is 20 MPH unless otherwise posted. 🚨
* Increased patrols and traffic enforcement will be taking place throughout the city.
* Those few extra seconds you save are not worth risking the life of a child, pedestrian, or neighbor.

⚠️ Child Safety Reminder ⚠️

* Children may unexpectedly enter the roadway.
* Stay alert in neighborhoods, near parks, and in areas where families are active.
* Slow down and watch carefully for pedestrians, cyclists, and children at play.

Our goal is not to write tickets—our goal is to keep our community safe.

The Centerton Police Department would like to share the visitation, funeral, and procession information honoring Captain Christopher Kelley as he is escorted to his final resting place.

📍 VISITATION
Monday, June 8th
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

📍 FUNERAL SERVICE
Tuesday, June 9th
11:00 AM

Both services will be held at:
First Baptist Church of Rogers
3364 W Pleasant Grove Rd
Rogers, AR 72758

Following the funeral service, a full law enforcement procession will travel to Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church & Cemetery in Gravette.

Members of the public who wish to pay their respects are encouraged to gather along portions of the route, particularly:
• Near the grassy area in front of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office
• In front of the Centerton Fire Department
• Across the street from these agencies along the route

Your presence along the procession route will serve as a meaningful tribute to a man who dedicated his life to serving others with honor, compassion, and leadership.

We ask everyone attending to please remain respectful, follow all directions from law enforcement personnel, and use caution near roadways.

Thank you for standing with us as we honor Captain Kelley’s life, service, and legacy.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Captain Christopher Kelley. Captain Kelley passed away on May 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, dedication, and service that touched countless lives throughout his distinguished career.

Captain Kelley served with honor and distinction, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues, community members, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him. Known for his unwavering commitment to duty, strong character, and compassionate leadership, he exemplified the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and public service.

Throughout his career, Captain Kelley made a lasting impact on those he mentored and served. His guidance, experience, and dedication helped shape the lives and careers of many, and his influence will continue to be felt for generations to come. Whether responding to the needs of the community, supporting his fellow personnel, or leading by example, Captain Kelley consistently demonstrated selfless service and unwavering commitment.

Captain Kelley was more than a leader—he was a trusted colleague, mentor, and friend. His dedication to service and his genuine care for others left an indelible mark on our organization and throughout the community. His presence, wisdom, and friendship will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten, and we are forever grateful for the freedoms they fought to protect.

As we spend time with family and friends this holiday weekend, we encourage everyone to do so safely and take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.

The Centerton Police Department is committed to continually improving our response to victims of domestic violence, s*xual assault, stalking, and intimate partner violence.

This week, members of our department are attending the Conference on Crimes Against Women to receive advanced training and education from experts across the country. These conferences provide valuable insight into investigations, victim-centered responses, offender behavior, evidence collection, and prosecution strategies in crimes that deeply impact individuals and families.

By investing in continued education and specialized training, we are working to better serve survivors, strengthen investigations, and enhance the safety of our community.

We are grateful for every opportunity to bring additional knowledge, resources, and best practices back to Centerton as we continue striving to provide compassionate, professional, and trauma-informed responses in these cases.
