WEATHER ADVISORY | Perry Police Department

With bitter cold and snow moving in, we’re asking everyone to stay home if at all possible and avoid unnecessary travel. Giving our emergency personnel a break helps keep resources available for true emergencies.

Reminder: Most winter crashes happen because drivers underestimate road conditions and overestimate what their vehicle can handle. Four-wheel drive helps you go—it does not help you stop.

If you slide off the roadway or get stuck, you could be there a long while before help can reach you due to road conditions and call volume.

If you must travel:
• Slow down
• Increase following distance
• Keep a blanket/charger/emergency kit
• Let someone know your route
