This week, the Center Police Department, under the leadership of Chief King, had the privilege of hosting Mac Tristan, a retired Texas police chief, instructor, and motivational speaker who specializes in supervisory training.

Mac traveled to Center, Texas, to lead a training course focused on the importance of servant-minded leadership. The course emphasized empathy, workplace culture, and the importance of building meaningful relationships with employees to better lead, support, and serve the community.

The Center Police Department was proud to open this training opportunity to department heads and supervisors from across the City of Center, allowing leaders throughout the city to benefit from Mac’s experience and expertise.

We are confident that our police department supervisors gained valuable knowledge and insight from this training, and we have already begun seeing them reflect on and apply what they learned.

The Center Police Department would like to extend a sincere thank-you to Mac Tristan for taking the time to travel to Center, Texas, and invest in the professional development of our city’s supervisors. We appreciate his dedication to developing stronger leaders and fostering a culture of service to our community!

‼️‼️ 🐷 FOUND PIG 🐷 ‼️‼️

Center PD officers responded to calls regarding a potbelly pig rooting around yards in the area of Thomas St.

After a brief search of the area officers were able to locate the suspect. The pesky pig is currently in custody and awaiting identification of the owner.

If you are missing a potbelly pig or know someone who is please contact the Center Police Department at 936-598-2788, and provide us with identifying details and it will be released back to the owner.

Rudy has been found and reunited with his family! Thank you to everyone who shared the post, kept an eye out, or helped look for him! Rudy’s family is thrilled! We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help!

The Center Police Department needs the public’s help!

Around 4:50 p.m. this afternoon CPD Officers responded to a vehicle crash involving a family traveling from out of town.

While officers were responding their family pet jumped out of the car and ran away.

CPD is currently assisting this family in locating their family pet, he was last seen in the area of Louisiana St. and Railroad, he answers to Rudy.

If you are able to catch Rudy, please contact the Center Police Department at 936-598-2788 so we can reunite him with his family.

🚨 Traffic Notice – Please Avoid the Square 🚨

The carnival rides are being brought into the inside of the square, so heavy traffic and delays are expected while everything is being set up.

Traffic lanes around the square remain open until tomorrow, September 30th, at 4:00 p.m.

If possible, please avoid the square and use an alternative route to help keep traffic moving and give the carnival crews plenty of room to work. Carnival crews will be working into the night.

🚧🚧 Downtown Square Closure Reminder 🚧🚧

The Downtown Center Square will be closed beginning Wednesday, September 30, at 4:00 PM and will remain closed through the weekend for the 50th Annual East Texas Poultry Festival.

The square is expected to reopen by the early morning hours of Sunday, October 4th.

‼️Please note: Motorists will still be able to make turns at the intersections surrounding the square, however, traffic will not be permitted onto the square itself.‼️

Motorist are encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the square whenever possible to help ensure the safety of festival attendees, vendors, and event staff.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as our community celebrates this long-standing tradition. We look forward to seeing everyone at the 50th Annual East Texas Poultry Festival!

⚠️ Please plan ahead, drive safely, and watch for increased pedestrian traffic in and around downtown throughout the festival weekend. ⚠️

The City of Center Animal Control Officers currently have two males, and one female lab-mix puppies that are approximately 4 months old. They were found in the area of Fannin St.

At the Center Police Department, we are committed to providing our officers and supervisors with the highest quality training and professional development opportunities available. We believe that a well-trained law enforcement agency is better equipped to serve, protect, and support the citizens of Center.

Recently, four of our supervisors successfully completed the Texas Sergeants Academy, a demanding 14-day leadership development program instructed by the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration (ILEA). This intensive course focuses on leadership, supervision, communication, personnel management, ethics, and decision-making, providing participants with the skills necessary to effectively lead in today’s law enforcement profession.

Training is an investment in our department, our officers, and our community. By continually seeking opportunities to enhance our knowledge and leadership abilities, we are ensuring that the Center Police Department remains prepared to meet the needs of the citizens we serve.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation and congratulations to Sergeant Bubba Lee, Sergeant Brian Wright, Corporal Luis Acuna, and Corporal Mario Reyna for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to professional growth. Their willingness to invest their time and effort into becoming better leaders reflects positively on our department and demonstrates their commitment to serving the citizens of Center with professionalism and excellence.
