Working with utility providers on upgrades doesn't happen overnight. We on city council have been working with Oncor since 2023 to improve the Downtown infrastructure and now we are starting to see it pay off. When we listen to our residents and work with providers we can make big steps towards stability for our Downtown power grid. So thankful for these partnerships.
As part of the City of Celina’s ongoing partnership with Oncor, we are sharing an update on planned work to enhance electric service reliability across the community. Oncor has scheduled vegetation management activities, including tree trimming, throughout the Downtown area.
In October 2025, Oncor completed comprehensive inspections of electric infrastructure in Celina and identified key areas for improvement. Beginning in February 2026, Oncor is launching a reliability improvement project designed to strengthen the local grid, reduce outages, and support long-term resiliency for our growing community.
Project components include:
• Vegetation Management – Proactive tree trimming to reduce outage risks from storms and overgrown trees
• Pole Replacements – Upgrading aging poles to improve system strength and reliability
• Modern Equipment – Installing updated technology to enhance system performance and faster service restoration
These improvements are part of Oncor’s System Resiliency Plan (SRP) and are expected to provide residents and businesses with fewer service interruptions, improved system stability, and enhanced reliability as Celina continues to grow. The majority of the projects are expected to be completed by summer 2026, weather permitting, with additional upgrades planned to support future development.
