As a veteran, you took an oath to support and defend the U.S. Constitution. Convention of States is a nationwide grassroots organization that seeks to use Article V of the Constitution to call an inter-state convention to propose amendments protecting the same values you fought to defend on the battlefield. Many of our most dedicated volunteers are veterans who view supporting Convention of States as the next phase in their lifelong fight to safeguard the Constitution. Indeed, nearly 350,000 veterans have signed the Convention of States petition, urging their representatives to pass Article V applications in 34 states, the constitutional threshold for calling a convention.

With the national debt at a mind-bending $39 trillion, Washington has already spent roughly $530 billion in interest payments for FY2026. That works out to over $22 billion every week — just to service the debt. In sobering contrast, the Department of Defense had a budget of only $461 billion for that same period.

Over the past six months, in other words, we’ve spent roughly $70 billion more on debt interest than on national defense. Forgive us for sounding like a broken record, but our national debt is slowly — or maybe not so slowly — killing us. It’s a message that bears repeating until lawmakers finally take action to steer our ship of state away from the iceberg.
