I find it completely fascinating that 160 years after this home was built, most of the original hand-hewn wood under the damaged metal roof was still in tact!

Much-needed work has FINALLY begun at the Historic Wright House!! I’m sad to see the Ivy on the chimney go, but it had to be done to access and replace the roof. Thankfully the brick didn’t crumble as we thought it might. These bricks were hand made on site circa 1862-63 by my 3rd Great Grandfather and his Plantation workers.

Copied message from Charles Russell:

I was on Ancestry and saw this photo which I understand was found in the Inn. It is a picture of Col. C.S. Jenkins , seated and his wife and my Grandfather Charles W. Jenkins and his wife Dolly Ragland and my Great uncle Don Jenkins taken in the parlor of their house in Daingerfield around 1895 or 96. I recognized the chair and the curtains from when I was a small boy and my grandfather still lived in the house before it was torn down to make way for a highway.
