Dear Residents and Businesses,

You are receiving this email to update you on the South Washington Avenue Reconstruction Project. All timelines listed below are subject to change due to weather conditions and/or construction productivity.

The work this week has been delayed for a couple days due to rain shortened days last week. Tomorrow and Friday Vinton is relaying a water main and sewer main across all 4 lanes of Washington Avenue at Fairfield Street, which involves a local closure. This local closure will allow access to Fairfield and businesses, however that access will need to be from either the north or the south.

Next week Monday, Vinton will relay a water service across all 4 lanes of Washington Avenue between Fairfield Street and Alyce Street. This work will involve a local closure. The local closure will allow access to all businesses, however that access will need to be from either the north or the south. Southbound traffic will be detoured using Lincoln Boulevard to Evergreen Boulevard to Pioneer Road and back to Washington Avenue. Northbound traffic will be detoured using Zeunert Street to Cardinal Avenue to Lincoln Boulevard and back to Washington Avenue. After this work is completed that should be the end the local closures for utilities. There may need to be some local closures in other phases but they should be fewer.

Next week Tuesday, Vinton Construction will work on a storm sewer relay at Zeunert. The end of Zeunert at Washington will be closed during this work.
Vinton’s grading crew has started removing the concrete pavement, digging to a depth of 16 inches and placing the new gravel base. They will work from south to north, moving past Pioneer early next week. At this point they will be skipping over Pioneer Road and Lincoln Boulevard.

Outside of the local closures, this phase of traffic control will close the two east lanes of Washington Avenue and flip both directions of traffic to the two west lanes. This closure will be extended south of Pioneer Road to the City limits next week.

We ask for your patience during the construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by November 6, 2026, but we are hoping for an earlier completion date. If you have any questions, concerns or special requests, please let me know. I can be reached at City Hall at (262) 375-7610 or email me at

Dear Residents and Businesses,

You are receiving this email to update you on the South Washington Avenue Reconstruction Project. All timelines listed below are subject to change due to weather conditions and/or construction productivity.

There have been some changes in the work scheduled for this week. Vinton Construction will be working on sewer lateral reconnections, replacing a hydrant, water taps, and relaying a water service on the east side for the rest of this week. All this work will take place in the normal two-lane closure. There will be no more Local Closures across all 4 lanes of Washington the rest of this week.

Next week Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, Vinton will relay water laterals across all 4 lanes of Washington Avenue between Pioneer Road and Zeunert. Their plan would be to do one crossing each day. This work will involve roaming local closure between Pioneer and Zeunert depending on which lateral is being relaid. The local closures will allow access to all businesses, however that access will need to be from either the north or the south. Southbound traffic will be detoured using Lincoln Boulevard to Evergreen Boulevard to Pioneer Road and back to Washington Avenue. Northbound traffic will be detoured using Pioneer Road to Cardinal Avenue to Lincoln Boulevard and back to Washington Avenue.

Next week Tuesday, Vinton Construction will be relaying a water main across all 4 lanes of Washington Avenue at Concord Street, which will involve a local closure at Concord. The local closure will allow access to the apartment buildings, however that access will need to be from either the north or the south. Southbound traffic should detour using Pioneer Road to STH 181 to Bonniwell Road. Northbound traffic will be detoured using Bonniwell Road to Green Bay Road to Pioneer Road and back to Washington Avenue.

Vinton Construction is planning to have their grading crew on site beginning the week of June 15 to begin the road work starting at the south end of the project.

Dear Residents and Businesses,

You are receiving this email to update you on the South Washington Avenue Reconstruction Project. All timelines listed below are subject to change due to weather conditions or equipment breakdowns.

Due to complications in today’s work, Vinton Construction will need to resume the closure of all 4 lanes of Washington Avenue just north of Zeunert Street on Monday. This is to replace a sewer line across Washington Avenue. They will have this section of Washington Avenue open for the weekend with gravel trenches.

Beginning next Tuesday, Vinton will relay multiple water laterals across all 4 lanes of Washington Avenue between Pioneer Road and Zeunert.

Dear Residents and Businesses,

You are receiving this email to update you on the South Washington Avenue Reconstruction Project. All timelines listed below are subject to change due to weather conditions or equipment breakdowns.

Vinton Construction has completed the sanitary sewer main. The Lincoln Boulevard and Washington Avenue intersection will open possibly today but for sure sometime tomorrow.

On Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, Vinton will relay a sewer and water line across all 4 lanes of Washington Avenue at Alyce Street. This work will involve a local closure in the vicinity of Alyce Street.

On Thursday of next week, no local closures are anticipated.

On Friday of next week, the local closure will move to just north of Zeunert Street to allow for a sewer/water line replacement across all 4 lanes of Washington Avenue. The local closure will allow access to all businesses, however, that access will have to be either from the north or the south. The same detours will apply.

Vinton also has a second crew on site doing catch basin replacements working from south to north.

Outside of the local closures, this phase of traffic control will close the two east lanes of Washington Avenue and flip both directions of traffic to the two west lanes. This closure will be extended south of Pioneer Road to the City limits next week.

We Energies is continuing their work on Fairfield Street.

These dates are subject to change due to weather conditions and/or construction productivity. We ask for your patience during the construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by November 6, 2026, but we are hoping for an earlier completion date. If you have any questions, concerns or special requests, please let me know. Dear Residents and Businesses,

You are receiving this email to update you on the South Washington Avenue Reconstruction Project. All timelines listed below are subject to change due to weather conditions or equipment breakdowns.

Vinton Construction continues to relay the sanitary sewer heading north and will likely complete the sanitary sewer early next week. To complete the sanitary sewer, they will need to close the Washington Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard intersection in all directions and Washington Avenue 220 feet north of Lincoln. This closure will begin tomorrow (Wednesday, May 13th) and last approximately a week and a half to allow the contractor to also complete other work in the intersection. Washington Avenue will be detoured using Zeunert Street to Cardinal Avenue to Lincoln Boulevard to Johnson Avenue to Hamilton Road and vice versa. Lincoln Boulevard will be detoured using Evergreen Boulevard to Western Road to Washington Avenue to Hamilton Road to Johnson Avenue and vice versa.

Vinton will then move onto connecting sewer laterals on the east side of Washington to the new main and relaying sewer/water crossings to the west side of Washington. The sewer/water crossings will require some local road closures which entail closing all four lanes for a segment of roadway. Access to driveways will be from either side of the local closure. Updates will be given with specific details on these local closures when that time comes.

Outside of the local closures, this phase of traffic control will close the two east lanes of Washington Avenue and flip both directions of traffic to the two west lanes. This closure will be extended south of Pioneer Road to the City limits next week.

We Energies has completed their gas replacement work in the Washington and Lincoln intersection and moved on to the gas replacement work on Fairfield Street. This work should take a couple of weeks.

We ask for your patience during the construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by November 6, 2026, but we are hoping for an earlier completion date. If you have any questions, concerns or special requests, please let me know. I can be reached at City Hall at (262) 375-7610 or email me at [email protected].
