Cedar Rapids Police Lt Michelle Omar has graduated from the 298th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, on June 18th, 2026. Omar joins several CRPD Captains and and Chiefs as a graduate from this prestigious course. Nationally, fewer than one percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program. Omar is the District Lieutenant for the Central District in Cedar Rapids and is a key leader in several Departmental groups.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
The 298th session consisted of 255 law enforcement officers who graduated today from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. The 298th session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 46 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 26 countries, five military organizations, and four federal civilian organizations.
