Here's the latest status update re: CeMar Trail construction. All bridge work is completed. Last week crews continued work on the retaining wall near Hwy 100. In the coming weeks, trail paving will be completed.

‼️The public is reminded that the entire work area remains closed and is not open for public use. Please do not enter the construction
area until the trail is officially opened. Your cooperation helps keep the project on schedule.

A big day for the Alliant Energy LightLine™! Components of the last section of the pedestrian/trail bridge are on their way to the bridge site for placement. Pictured here is one of the curved steel beams for that last section.

From the top of Mount Trashmore in Cedar Rapids, you get a wide-open look at downtown, the Cedar River, the bridges, and the city stretching out in every direction.

And yes — it really is built on a former landfill.

What was once a mountain of trash has been transformed into one of Cedar Rapids’ most unique overlooks, complete with trails, prairie plantings, and a view that’s definitely worth the climb.

LightLine UPDATE: Construction crews are getting ready to pour the last stretch of the bridge's single deck. From here, the Alliant Energy LightLine™ will split into two decks, one on each side of the 164’ tower, which will be supported by the next pier. The two decks will then join again at the bridge abutment at the top right of this image.
