Thank you to the City of Marion, Iowa Government for reading a Mental Health Awareness Month Proclamation at this month's City Council meeting!

We also shared about our services to the Marion community, including our Law Enforcement Liaison, a specialized mental-health response with the Marion Police Department (Iowa).

Mental Health Awareness Month Proclamation 2026

WHEREAS, mental health is an essential component of overall well-being, affecting how individuals think, feel, act and contribute to their communities; and

WHEREAS, millions of people experience mental health conditions each year, yet stigma and misunderstanding continue to prevent many from seeking the support and care they need; and

WHEREAS, early intervention, accessible treatment and community-based support systems can significantly improve outcomes and quality of life for individuals and families affected by mental health challenges; and

WHEREAS, promoting mental health awareness fosters compassion, reduces discrimination and encourages open dialogue that empowers individuals to seek help without fear or judgment; and

WHEREAS, communities, organizations, healthcare providers and advocates play a vital role in advancing mental health education, resources, and equitable access to care for all;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that May 2026 is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month, and all are encouraged to raise awareness, support those affected and work together to build a more understanding, inclusive and mentally healthy society.
