This past Saturday, WCFD took to the streets after receiving a grant for smoke alarms, going door-to-door to speak with residents about home safety and ensuring working smoke alarms are in place.

When the call comes in, our crews are ready for both fire and medical emergencies. That readiness is built through frequent EMS continuing education that keeps skills sharp and knowledge current.

This week, crews responded to a call involving a fully submerged vehicle. Upon arrival, responders were initially unsure if anyone was inside the vehicle.

Firefighter Noah Sanderson and Lieutenant Dominy entered the water and conducted a rapid search of the vehicle, confirming that there were no occupants inside. Once the vehicle was cleared, Roy’s Towing assisted with the recovery operation.

Incidents like this highlight the importance of a quick, coordinated response and the teamwork between agencies and partners to ensure a safe outcome.
