🍁 Start of September at CCMS - Here’s what happened this week!

🏅Congrats to our Students of the Week: Maily, Sol, and Khyan! Your Eagle Excellence is showing!

🧪 Science experiments and stations are in full swing, and students are doing several hands-on labs each week (see earlier post).

🎭 After completing their scripts, students in theatre brought their Greek mythology inspired skits to life!

🗺️ 8th grade SS students reviewed for their unit tests with teacher-led testing strategy stations, map practice, and tech choice boards.

📐6th grade math students applied their understanding of Triangle Sum Theorem by solving for the missing angles showing their thinking on paper, desks, and screens.

💬❓6th grade RLA students continued working on their essays and engaging in structured academic conversations.

🌎 6th grade SS students checked their understanding of SCAPE in an engaging game of Jeopardy.

👷🏼‍♂️🔎 Students in CCMR researched different career paths and what skills are necessary for working these roles.

🧪🥽 Science Experiments and Stations Spotted at CCMS

🚰🌈 8th graders identify acids and bases using the pH scale and test strips.

🩸7th graders compare the concentration levels in mixtures and solutions using kool-aid.

📖 6th graders explore density and matter in readings, card sorts, and demos.

Students were safe, responsible, and readily shared their findings. Way to go, CCMS scientists!

🦅🍎 Another week of wonderful things happening at CCMS!

🏅Congratulations to Damian, Eliot, and Madolynn for being selected as the Student of the Week for their grade level!

🌎 Social Studies students learn about Native American tribes located in Texas while engaging in blended learning with Pear Deck, interactive notebooks, and Discovery Ed.

➗ Sixth graders practice dividing fractions and whole numbers with teachers modeling strip diagrams on their interactive panels.

📚 The library is open! Students are excited to check out books and graphic novels for the first time this year.

✏️🎁 The School Supply Santa made a stop in the teacher’s lounge! Teachers were leaving with smiles on their faces and hands full of school supplies for their classrooms.

🎤🎬 Student Tech Team leaders lead the morning announcements and filmed their first staff interview with Principal Garza.

🧪 The Chemistry Roadshow stopped by to put on an explosive performance for CCMS Eagles and CMS Hawks!

First full week at CCMS ✅

A few of the amazing things our Eagles are doing on campus:
🎨 Created still life drawings with contour lines in art class.
🧬 Table read about atomic models.
🎼 Practiced reading and playing musical notes.
🎭 Wrote original scripts for plays inspired by Greek mythology.
👑 Simulated trade, mercantilism, and England’s unfair rule over colonies using M&Ms and student role-playing.
🌎 Applied their understanding of world geography using a map and Wayground.
📚 Practiced finding the slope of a line by matching graphs with linear equations.
💻 Student Tech Team delivered technology to classrooms and filmed daily video announcements.
🗳️ National Junior Honor Society elected their officers after nominations and campaign speeches.
🦈 Not to mention, sixth graders were visited by the Tardy Sweep Sharks - Don’t be late! You never know when they’ll pop up.

What a great week of learning and growing. Let’s keep soaring, Eagles!
