UPDATE: I-26 has reopened and all units have cleared the roadway.

Correction: It is a large diameter fiber optic cable, not power lines.

Please be aware that there are downed power lines across Interstate 26 at the 115 mile marker. Cayce Police and Fire are on scene. Please avoid the area and find an alternate route.

Happy Valentines Day ❤️

Your Cayce Fire Department has spent the day training for what we love… firefighting. Our probie got valuable repetitions on setting up portable master streams and flowing large volumes of water.

With these devices, we will win any water gun fight we are invited to. You know what they say:
“If you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin’!”

**Disclaimer** This saying does not extend to Valentine’s Day! We are not liable for any misuse.

Congratulations Probationary Firefighter Thomas Moir!

PFF Moir has completed a rigorous, 5 month recruit class in partnership with our friends at County of Lexington, SC Fire Service. Along with his firefighting certifications, he has obtained his National Registry EMT-B certification.

Now that he has earned his orange shield, he will begin an intense 6 month probationary period, training on his assigned shift to earn his spot as a firefighter for the City of Cayce.

Wish him luck, and congratulate him on this milestone. On top of serving as a fireman with the City of Cayce, he is also a Lieutenant in the SC National Guard.

Proud of you, probie!

🚨 Road Safety Reminder to Residents and Travelers in Cayce!🚨

🥶Temps are again dropping below freezing tonight, which means icy roads and bridges from all of the melting snow.

📢‼️If you don’t have to be out, it’s a good day and night to stay in.

😑If you must venture out… Please slow it down, increase your following distance, and avoid sudden braking. Black ice can be hard to see and easy to slide on.

🦺Stay safe out there, Cayce! Call us if you need us! 🧊❄️

It is with great sadness that we share that former Chief of the Cayce Public Safety Department, A.G. Dantzler, passed away on January 10, 2026.

Chief Dantzler began working with the Cayce Department of Public Safety in 1959. After his retirement in 1998, Dantzler served as a Cayce volunteer fireman and as a commissioner for the Cayce Historical Museum.

Cayce’s Police and Fire buildings bare the name of A.G. Dantzler. He was inducted into SC Law Enforcement Hall of Fame in 2023. In May of 2024, the City of Cayce presented Dantzler with the Key to the City for his many years of dedication to public safety and his love for the Cayce community.

Please join our city in remembering and honoring Chief Dantzler as we also keep his wife of more than 60 years, Mrs Barbara, his family and many friends in our thoughts, prayers and hearts.

Services for Chief Dantzler will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on Friday, January 16 at 2:00 pm.

Thank you, Chief Dantzler, for your years of service to our city and our citizens. Rest in peace 💙
