On June 2, 2026, at 14:43:47, a Grass Fire occurred at 17### Redwood Hwy, near Hidden Creek Rd, Selma.
The Illinois Valley Fire District, ODF Southwest Oregon District, and U.S. Forest Service - Six Rivers National Forest promptly responded to the incident. Nearby neighbors also helped prior to fire agencies arrived.
The fire was successfully contained at 1/100th of an acre.
The fire investigation determined that hot ashes from several days prior were placed onto a previously used burn pile that still contained combustible material. The residual heat from the ashes rekindled the burn pile, causing it to reignite and spread fire to the surrounding area.
