We are asking you to join us in prayer for this young boy. ❤️

Tuesday night, Fort Gay Volunteer Fire Department had a structure fire, which was contained to one bedroom.

During overhaul, Fort Gay Firefighter Brayden Burton began feeling bad/sick and was taken outside to be checked. While being checked he began having seizures. He was transported to Three Rivers Medical Center and during transport he had several more seizures. Later on he was transferred to Cabell where he continued to have seizures. The next morning his airway began to swell/close off, his O2 dropped, and he is now on a ventilator.

We are asking our community to rally behind Brayden, as well as his family. They need all the prayers possible. Please join us in prayer for one of our fellow firefighters.

Last night, members of Big Sandy Fire Department, England Hill Fire Department, and Summit Ironville Fire Department came together for a hands-on Rope Rescue Training session.

Firefighters practiced both low-angle rescue techniques and rappelling exercises, focusing on rope systems, victim access and removal, equipment operations, and teamwork in challenging environments. These skills are critical when responding to incidents involving steep terrain, embankments, confined access areas, and other technical rescue situations.

Training opportunities like this strengthen not only our skills but also the relationships between neighboring departments, ensuring we can work seamlessly together when our communities need us most.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and dedicated their evening to learning, training, and improving their craft.

Today, Big Sandy Fire Department was honored to join fellow fire departments, law enforcement agencies, Patriot Gaurd, and community members in escorting the Kentucky Army National Guard to the airport as they begin their deployment.

The sight of so many people coming together to support these brave men and women was a powerful reminder of what makes our communities strong. As they leave behind their families, friends, and the comforts of home to answer the call of duty, we want them to know they have the full support of the communities they serve and protect.

To all of the soldiers deploying today: thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and commitment to our nation. We pray for your safety, strength, and protection throughout your mission and for a safe return home.

Please join us in keeping these soldiers and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

We’ll be here waiting to welcome you home. ❤️💙🇺🇸
