🌺 National Hispanic Heritage Month begins today!

From September 15 through October 15, the City of Cathedral City celebrates the Hispanic and Latino culture, history, and contributions that shape our community every day.

Two ways to celebrate with us this week:

🗓️ Wednesday, Sept. 16, 5:30 PM — City Council special presentation honoring Mexican Independence Day and Hispanic Heritage Month, with a Folklórico performance from the Desert Recreation District. 3rd Floor Council Chamber, 68700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero.

🎶 Thursday, Sept. 17, doors at 4:30 PM — The Cathedral City Senior Center, 37171 W. Buddy Rogers Ave., hosts a celebration sponsored by the Cathedral City Public Arts Commission: Mexican buffet, live music from Mark Guerrero, and a screening of his documentary about his father, the legendary Lalo Guerrero. Free event, donations welcome — RSVP requested at 760-321-1548.

Del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre, la Ciudad de Cathedral City celebra la cultura, la historia y las contribuciones hispanas y latinas que dan forma a nuestra comunidad cada día.

Dos maneras de celebrar con nosotros esta semana:

🗓️ Miércoles 16 de septiembre, 5:30 PM — Presentación especial del Concejo Municipal en honor al Día de la Independencia de México y al Mes de la Herencia Hispana, con baile folklórico a cargo del Desert Recreation District. Cámara del Concejo, 3er piso, 68700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero.

🎶 Jueves 17 de septiembre, puertas a las 4:30 PM — El Cathedral City Senior Center, 37171 W. Buddy Rogers Ave., presenta una celebración patrocinada por la Comisión de Artes Públicas de Cathedral City: bufet mexicano, música en vivo de Mark Guerrero y un documental sobre su padre, el legendario Lalo Guerrero. Evento gratuito, se aceptan donaciones — se agradece confirmar asistencia al 760-321-1548.

We'd like to thank all the community members, The City of Cathedral City and our event partners who came to our Esperanza Rising event this weekend.

We got to help paint Autmn Martino's amazing mural in Cathedral City's Esperanza Park. 🖌️We enjoyed Folklorico performance by Retoños de Mexico 💃a line dancing demo, and we enjoyed the music provided by DJ Alf Alpha. 🎵

Our fourth installment of Esperanza Rising is coming up October 10th from 9am-noon at Esperanza Park.

We will also have Line Dancing and Folkorico classes coming up soon for Cathedral City community members, go to MyRecreationDistrict.com and watch our social media for updates.

🕊️ International Day of Peace 2026 is just 1 week away!

Join us in Cathedral City as we come together to recognize the International Day of Peace and celebrate the universal hope for a more peaceful world.

The observance will feature remarks from Rita Lamb Councilmember Cathedral City, with Director of Communications and Engagement Ryan Alexander Hunt serving as emcee.

The event will also feature “Signs of Safety,” a powerful global art exhibition showcasing children’s artwork from the United Nations Mine Action Service, offering a moving perspective on peace, safety, and the hopes of children around the world.

Come be part of an afternoon dedicated to peace, hope, art, and community.

🕊️ Celebrating Peace at Cathedral City Hall! We’re thrilled to showcase the beautiful Peace Flags created by the talented third graders at Sunny Sands Elementary, now proudly displayed at Cathedral City Hall in honor of International Day of Peace.

This inspiring project, a collaboration between S.C.R.A.P. Gallery and the Cathedral City Peace Initiative, aligns with the 2026 theme: Invest in Peace - For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.

Drawing inspiration from Tibetan prayer flags, these unique flags symbolize peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. It’s believed that as the wind blows through them, the prayers and mantras printed on the flags spread goodwill and kindness to all. 🌍💖

What makes them even more special? Each flag is crafted from recycled and repurposed materials, showcasing creativity and environmental responsibility.

Join us in celebrating peace and the incredible efforts of our young artists!

Cathedral City Police are coordinating with the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, the California Highway Patrol, and neighboring agencies ahead of a Mongols Motorcycle Club gathering at the DoubleTree by Hilton Golf Resort Palm Springs Friday, Sept. 18 through Sunday, Sept. 20.

Residents will see an increased law enforcement presence throughout the weekend. That presence reflects preparation, not alarm. The gathering is a private booking at a privately owned resort, and the City did not invite it, did not welcome it, or have any say in the decision.

Please call 911 to report emergencies or criminal activity in progress. For all other concerns, call CCPD's non-emergency line at (760) 770-0300.

Mayor Raymond Gregory joined mayors from all nine valley cities, Riverside County leadership and tribal chairpersons Friday for the 2026 All Valley Mayors, County and Tribal Chairpersons Luncheon — hosted by the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells.

The panel covered economic diversification, workforce development, housing and cutting red tape for small businesses. Mayor Gregory highlighted Cathedral City’s creative economy, our growing automotive and mobility sector, and the IGNITE program supporting local entrepreneurs.

Thank you to the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber for bringing the region to one table!
