Attendance Matters at Nike Elementary! Every Day Counts!
This month, we’re putting a special focus on school attendance and reminding our Nike Scouts and families just how important it is to be at school each day. Every day counts!
When students are at school consistently, they have more opportunities to learn, build friendships, participate in classroom activities, and stay connected with their teachers and classmates. Missing school regularly can add up over time and may lead to chronic absenteeism, which can make it more difficult for students to keep up academically and socially.
We know that life happens! We absolutely understand that students may need to miss school from time to time because they are sick, have a doctor or dentist appointment, have an important family commitment, or are traveling. Our goal is not to make families feel guilty about necessary absences—we simply want to encourage students to be here whenever they are able to be here.
To celebrate great attendance, we’ll also be having random weekly attendance incentives throughout the month! Students may be surprised with fun rewards for being at school and ready to learn!
A reminder for families: When a student is absent, our attendance procedures require additional verification for certain absences. This may include documentation from a medical provider or other appropriate verification. Please be sure to provide the required documentation when applicable so your child’s absence can be properly recorded.
