Bandys High School is excited and proud to announce that Mrs. Nicki Brittain has been named as an Assistant Principal effective July 1. Mrs. Brittain is a proud graduate of BHS and has served as a math teacher for the last 12 years. During this time, Mrs. Brittain served our students and school community in a variety of roles, including JV and Varsity Women's Basketball Coach, Student Government Association Adviser, Beginning Teacher Mentor, and Math Department Chair. After graduating from Bandys, Mrs. Brittain attended North Carolina State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education and later a Master’s from NCSU in STEM Education. Throughout her career, she has received several professional honors, including being named the Catawba County Schools Beginning Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2015, the Catawba County Schools NCCTM Outstanding Secondary Mathematics Teacher Award in 2020-2021, and the Bandys High School Teacher of the Year for 2023-2024.

In addition to her work at Bandys, Mrs. Brittain is actively involved with the Hearts & Hope Foundation, an organization that is especially close to her heart. The foundation's mission of supporting children and families in need throughout our community aligns with her passion for serving others.

Mrs. Britain, upon being named assistant principal said, “I am honored to serve as an Assistant Principal at the school that has meant so much to me throughout my life. My experiences as a student at Bandys inspired me to pursue a career in education. The teachers who invested in me, challenged me, and supported me helped shape the person I am today, and I knew I wanted to have that same impact on future generations of students. Bandys is more than just the place where I work - it is home. As a student, educator, coach, mentor, and now administrator, I have experienced firsthand the special culture and traditions that make this school unique. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities Bandys has provided me, and I am committed to continuing to serve our students, staff, and community while helping preserve and strengthen the legacy of excellence that defines Bandys High School. It is a tremendous honor to serve as Assistant Principal and to give back to the school that played such an important role in shaping both my personal and professional life.”

Not sure how we missed this the first time, but that's our Mollie Mae (Class of 2026) who was front and center in this episode of "President in the Program." Mollie was a dual-enrolled student in CVCC's cosmetology program. We are so very proud of all of our recent graduates!

We are so proud of our students for representing BHS at the Catawba County Schools End of Year Celebration. A special thank you to Ms. Allison Keisler for her leadership with these students. They sounded spectacular!.

What a special way to celebrate the end of another successful school year! These five talented singers - four from Bandys High School and one from Challenger Early College High School - performed the National Anthem at the Catawba County Schools End-of-Year Employee Celebration. Though they have recently graduated, they graciously returned to share their gifts and represent our schools with pride.

Pictured with Ms. Keisler, Choral Director at Bandys High School, these outstanding young musicians exemplify the talent, leadership, and dedication found throughout Catawba County Schools. They are shining examples of why our students are truly diamonds, helping our school system sparkle both on and off the stage.

A huge thank you to the Olmos Family for the delicious taco bar lunch today! It was the perfect way to end a terrific school year. We are so thankful for your kindness, generosity, and support of our students and staff.

We truly appreciate wonderful families like yours who continually pour into our school community and help make Bandys such a special place. Thank you again for this thoughtful gesture!

Congratulations to Mrs. Cindy Brittian on being named a finalist for the 2026 Catawba County Schools Child Nutrition Employee of the Year! As the cafeteria manager at Bandys High School, Mrs. Brittian is always a friendly and welcoming face for our students each and every day. She truly cares for our students and works hard to make sure they are taken care of. Her kindness, genuine heart, and strong work ethic make a difference throughout our school community.
We are so thankful for all that Mrs. Brittian does for the students and staff at Bandys High School. She is one of the BEST, and we are truly blessed to have her! Congratulations, Mrs. Brittian, on this well-deserved recognition. 💚💛

Mrs. Wimberly is truly one of the BEST. She is always willing to help students, goes above and beyond by offering after-school tutoring, and creates a welcoming classroom environment where every student feels supported and able to learn and grow.
