When the call for help went out, our volunteers answered.

Several members of Cataula Fire & Rescue recently traveled to South Georgia to assist with wildfire operations, standing alongside departments from across the state to protect homes, land, and communities. We are incredibly proud of their dedication, sacrifice, and willingness to serve wherever they’re needed.

A huge thank you to the Ledger-Enquirer for highlighting the work being done by these firefighters and first responders. Please take a moment to read and share the article.

We also want to thank the families, employers, and community members who support our volunteers while they’re away serving others.

🚨 Burn Ban Update – Harris County 🚨

Good news — Harris County is NO LONGER under a burn ban at this time.

However, conditions can change quickly, and we still ask everyone to use extreme caution when burning outdoors. Always follow safe burning practices:
🔥 Keep a water source nearby
🔥 Never leave a fire unattended
🔥 Be mindful of wind conditions
🔥 Fully extinguish before leaving

While some areas of Georgia are still under restrictions (see maps below), we’re thankful for the recent improvements locally.

🚒 Cataula Fire & Rescue will continue to monitor conditions closely and keep you updated with any changes.

Stay safe, stay smart, and when in doubt — don’t burn.

🚫🔥 BURN BAN STILL IN EFFECT – HARRIS COUNTY 🔥🚫

Even with the recent rain, Cataula and all of Harris County remain under a burn ban due to ongoing wildfire risk.

Dry conditions, wind, and low humidity can cause fires to spread quickly — putting homes, property, and lives at risk.

🚫 No outdoor burning allowed
(Yard debris, brush piles, etc.)

Please take this seriously. We’ve already responded to fires caused by unattended or illegal burns, and citations can be issued.

Let’s do our part to keep our community safe. If you see smoke or fire, don’t hesitate to call it in.

Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

On Firefighter Memorial Day, we remember our fallen brothers and sisters—those who answered the call without hesitation and gave everything to protect others.

Their courage will never be forgotten. Their legacy lives on in every call we answer.

Please join Cataula Fire & Rescue in honoring them today. 🇺🇸🔥

While our firefighters are deployed in Southeast Georgia, it’s the people behind the scenes who make a huge difference—and we want to take a moment to recognize one of them.

A big THANK YOU to Southside Baptist Church in Nahunta, GA for opening your doors and your hearts to our crew. From providing a place to rest, to cooking meals, to even helping wash clothes—your kindness and generosity have not gone unnoticed.

Support like this keeps our firefighters going during long, exhausting days on the fire line. It’s a true reminder of what community and service are all about.

We are incredibly grateful for everything you’ve done for our team and so many others.

Also included are hand written notes from the kids that live in the area.
