Week of 8/9 - 8/16 Recap 🔥

Members are coming off another busy week. 14 calls, including numerous fire alarms, EMS runs, inside gas odors, and a working house fire in South Whitehall Township.

R/E 2 w/ 6 members was alerted for a reported house fire in the 4000 blk of Wedgewood Road. First-in crews found fire on the 2nd floor extending into the attic space. R/E 2 was put to work upon their arrival, and the next due RIT was requested. R/E 2 crew assisted with utility control, suppression, and overhaul.

More than just fires!

This afternoon, members of Catasauqua and Charotin Hose traveled up to the Catasauqua High School for the Positivity Project summer camp for a community engagement event. Chiefs Hertzog, Scheirer, and Captain Hoch spent roughly 1 hour talking about volunteer service to the community, explaining the roles of the departments, the diverse knowledge and skills of members, a walk around Rescue/Engine 2 and Quint 18, and finished with a gear display.

Members are proud to partake in these demonstrations to support of local community programs!

🔥Working Commercial Building Fire🔥

At 04:32 hrs, Ladder 2 with five members was alerted to the 2400 blk of Mickley Ave for a reported building fire.

Ladder 2 & Engine 37 (Station 37) arrived simultaneously to find smoke showing from the roofline and ventilation system. Crews forced entry into the structure and initiated fire attack. The OVM laddered the building and initiated vertical ventilation in coordination with the Ladder 2 crew. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.

All inquiries regarding this incident can be forwarded to Whitehall Township Bureau of Fire.

Station 2 also responded to two fire alarms and a MVA involving a motorcycle in Han-Le-Co.

As a reminder to avoid any outside activity, stay cool, and stay hydrated as we continue to undergo a severe heat wave.

Camp Cadet Demonstration 👮 🚔

Catasauqua Fire once again returned to Troop M Camp Cadet for our annual vehicle extrication demonstration!

During the demonstration, members explain different aspects of vehicle extrication, providing participants with a first hand experience of strategies and tools implemented to extricate an injured patient from a vehicle. The demonstration was followed by hands-on with hydraulic rescue tools, a brief overview of Rescue/Engine 2, and a Q&A session.

Camp Cadet is a week long program that teens 12–15 can partake in that introduces them to the world of law enforcement procedures and specialties, while including other aspects of emergency services.

Catasauqua and Charotin Hose are proud to assist and maintain relationships with our neighboring first responders!
