And just like that… it’s over.

Honorary SPD member, Chris the Schodack Zebra, has officially concluded his ride-along tour with the Schodack Police Department and has been safely returned to his natural habitat along Brookview Road.

After a full day of patrol duties, morale boosting, traffic observation, and confused looks from the public, the good Corporal has resumed his post watching over the Brookview area — a responsibility he has diligently followed through with for over a year now.

We appreciate everyone who followed along and joined us on today’s adventure. Your comments and enthusiasm were appreciated. Sharing all these laughs together made it completely worthwhile.

To Motorcop Corporal Chris:
Your service has not gone unnoticed. The hat suits you well, sir. Stay vigilant and keep those ears on a swivel. We salute you 🫡

Through exhaustive investigative effort it was determined that the Zebra’s name is Chris.

Chris went out to hit the streets with Officer Heslin today. Let us know if you saw him.

Warning: Zebras in mirror are closer than they appear.

Crikey!

Pulled in this morning and there was a Schodackus Zebralis (better known as a Schodack Zebra) gracefully grazing on our majestic front yard!

Only Schodack residents will understand.

We love our Brookview Zebra and it's growing family! 🦓

Maybe Zebra can be an honorary member of SPD? 🤔

Late last week, we were fortunate to receive a visit from the team at START Children’s Center, who stopped by the station with a basket full of snacks for our officers and staff to enjoy.

Each year, START puts together care packages like this for local law enforcement agencies as a small token of appreciation for the work being done throughout our communities. While the snacks were certainly appreciated, the real recognition belongs to them.

Located in North Greenbush, START serves as a child advocacy center for both Rensselaer and Albany counties, providing critical support and services to children who are victims of physical and sexual abuse. The work they do behind the scenes is nothing short of extraordinary, and the impact they have on countless families cannot be overstated.

We are grateful for their continued partnership and for the compassion and dedication their staff shows every single day. They truly are unsung heroes in our community.

Now again, while the gesture was appreciated….. no donuts.🙄

Wow. Thanks. Maybe next year….

It is important to recognize the positive impact people have had on our community.

While David Keevern served the Town of North Greenbush for the past 25 years, his hard work has left a lasting impact on us here at Schodack PD by and through the Shared Services agreement between the Schodack, East Greenbush, North Greenbush and Rensselaer communities.

We wish Chief Keevern a happy and healthy retirement. Thank you for your dedicated service. You are appreciated.

Good morning, Schodack!

Can’t say I’m a meteorologist, but I did get a B- in earth science in high school and I remember my teacher said I was a “pleasure to have in class,” so I’m gonna go ahead and consider myself an expert on the subject.

Here’s your air quality report for today: The atmosphere in town is currently 146% pollen with 2.214328765317897% oxygen saturation. There may be certain percentages of nitrogen, argon and carbon dioxide in there, but we can’t tell because it’s masked by all the pollen. To be honest, I’m not quite sure what an argon is, but you likely don’t either so you’re in good company.

It’s the perfect storm for runny noses and aggressive sneezing spells that make you sound like a duck.

So make sure you get out there and enjoy the fresh air today!

Also, don’t speed on Main St in the Village. An officer is posted there. Driving faster isn’t going to get the pollen off your car so head to the car wash.

FOUND PROPERTY

Do you recognize this bicycle?

This bike was located on Brookview Road all by its lonesome — no rider, no explanation.

It is now safely hanging out with the Schodack Police Department awaiting reunion with its rightful owner.

If it is yours, proof of ownership is required. “It looks kinda like mine” will not be accepted as forensic evidence.

Schodack PD is participating in the statewide traffic safety initiative “Buckle Up New York, Click It or Ticket” seat belt enforcement campaign which runs from May 18th through May 31st.

During this campaign, members of SPD will be conducting increased patrols and targeted enforcement efforts focused on seat belt and child restraint violations throughout the Town of Schodack.

Seat belts remain one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent serious injury or death in a motor vehicle crash. Whether you’re on a long trip or “just going a couple minutes down the road,” buckle up every trip, every time. Yes, even in the back seat.

The Schodack Police Department encourages all motorists to make safety a priority and help keep our roads safe for everyone.

Click it or ticket. Preferably the “click it” part.
