Labor Day Closure

Aging Resources of Douglas County will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. We will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, September 8.

Labor Day was first celebrated in New York City in 1882 and became a federal holiday in 1894. It honors the contributions and achievements of American workers, whose hard work helped build and strengthen our communities.

We wish our clients, volunteers, partners, staff, and neighbors a safe and relaxing Labor Day!

🎶 NEW DATE & TIME! 🎶

The Larkspur Music in the Park concert originally scheduled for August 14 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 2, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Please note the change from the usual Friday evening schedule—this concert is on Wednesday with an earlier start time!

The Larkspur Chamber of Commerce features a local nonprofit at each concert, giving attendees an opportunity to support organizations serving our community. We’re excited that Aging Resources of Douglas County will be the featured nonprofit for this fun evening!

Come enjoy MidLifeCrisis , a band with something for just about everyone—classic rock, ’80s favorites, Southern rock, R&B, funk and even a little country mixed in.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and join us for great music in a beautiful setting. We hope to see you there!

🚐 On the Road with Bertha!

Our August newsletter is here, and one of our favorite stories this month comes straight from a member of our transportation fleet — Bertha!

Spend a little time On the Road with Bertha and you’ll see just how many gaps transportation fills for older adults who want to remain independent, connected and engaged in their community.

Did you know? If you live anywhere in Douglas County and are 60 or older, you can use Aging Resources’ transportation services.

📍 We serve ALL of Douglas County. There are no boundaries within the county based on where you live.

🚐 Your destination doesn’t have to be in Douglas County. Our drivers regularly take clients outside the county for medical appointments and other important needs.

🏠 We’re more than curb-to-curb. Our door-to-door service can include helping you safely get from your home to the vehicle and, when needed, helping you get inside at your destination.

❤️ And transportation isn’t just about appointments. A ride can mean staying connected to friends, getting groceries, taking care of everyday needs and continuing to be part of the community you love.

That’s what Bertha sees every day on the road.

💙 78 bags. One very grateful neighbor. One incredible team.

AdventHealth is showing up for older adults in Douglas County—again!

Following a recent Service Day project by the AdventHealth Castle Rock team, volunteers from AdventHealth Parker became the second AdventHealth hospital to roll up their sleeves and help one of our clients with a much-needed yard cleanup.

This time, the helping hands were for Meg. The Parker team spent their Service Day tackling yard work that had become difficult for her to manage on her own.

And just how much work did they accomplish? Here's a fun fact: by the end of the day, they had filled 78 bags with pinecones and pine needles! Yes, 78! That's a lot of pinecones—and a lot of helping hands making a difference.

Projects like this are about much more than a cleaner yard. They lift a burden, make a home safer and more manageable, and help an older neighbor continue to live independently.

Thank you, AdventHealth Parker, for bringing your energy, compassion, and willingness to work to Meg's home. And thank you to both AdventHealth Parker and AdventHealth Castle Rock for showing what it looks like when community partners step up for older adults in Douglas County.

A huge thank you to the incredible team from AdventHealth Castle Rock for spending part of their day serving one of our clients through a Service Day project!

The team rolled up their sleeves to clean up Carolyn's front yard, creating a safer, more welcoming outdoor space that she can enjoy with pride. Projects like these may seem simple, but for many older adults, yard work can become physically difficult or even impossible to manage alone.

Your willingness to give your time, energy, and compassion made a meaningful difference—not just to Carolyn's home, but to her peace of mind.

Thank you, AdventHealth Castle Rock, for demonstrating what it means to care for our community beyond the walls of the hospital. We are grateful for your partnership and your heart for serving older adults in Douglas County!

💙 Together, we're helping older adults age with independence.
