At approximately 9:35 a.m., CHFD responded to a fire alarm in the 6000 block of West Ave. Upon arrival, Engine 109 and Platform 109 found visible smoke coming from a commercial building. Crews quickly deployed attack lines and achieved a fast knockdown, while our mutual aid partners assisted with checking for extension and overhaul.

Turn around, don’t drown!

Tropical moisture will support a daily threat for flooding rainfall each day through Thursday, especially for the southern Edwards Plateau, Rio Grande Plains, and portions of the Hill Country. There is a level Level 4 of 4 Risk (today/High) for flooding rain for portions of the U.S. 90 corridor, west of San Antonio - including the southern Edwards Plateau and Rio Grande. Considerable to locally catastrophic flash flooding impacts likely in this region. Pockets of an additional 10-20” of rain in this area. There is a level 2 to 3 Risk of flooding rain elsewhere. Additional 2-6” of rain possible. The flooding threat continues into Thursday with several rounds of heavy rainfall possible.

Recently, our Castle Hills firefighters had the opportunity to participate in the 2nd Annual “SAC Gives Back” live fire training event, hosted by the San Antonio Regional Fire Academy.

This training event brought together departments from across San Antonio and Bexar County for multi-company, hands-on training, under live fire conditions.

Events like this are about more than fire training … they are about building trust, teamwork, and preparing for the moments our communities depend on us most.

We would like to sincerely thank H-E-B, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Panchito’s Mexican Restaurant, Las Palapas, and Bill Miller BBQ for supporting our first responders during this event. Your generosity fuels our mission!

Our teams recently hit the San Antonio College First Responder Academy for live-fire training. It was great to work alongside Bexar County ESD 11, Bexar County ESD 4, Shavano Park Fire Department, Olmos Park Fire Department and Windcrest Fire Department.
