Last night Casstown and Christiansburg Fire had the opportunity to go out to a local farm to work some extrication and rescue scenarios!
Scenarios included:
A lawnmower that had rolled over with entrapment.
A water tote that had slid off the forks of a tractor pinning a victim.
A victim trapped under a bush hog.
A victim wrapped around a PTO shaft.
All the scenarios were set up to be limited access so the apparatus were not able to get close enough for tooling to be readily available! Each scenario had a designated officer who made decisions on what equipment was needed and the other crew members hauled that equipment to the location Via UTV and Grass Truck! With some small discussion plans were put together and executed to remove all the “victims”. All in all it was a great exercise and simulated real life situations very well! Even though these calls are not a “common” call they are calls that can easily happen in our rural community making this a priority to train on!
