Telecommunicator Week 2026

This week, the Casper Fire Department joins all first responders and government employees in celebrating Telecommunicator Week. Our friends in the dispatch center work unbelievably hard and provide a reliable and efficient backbone to the emergency response system in our city.

Without telecommunicators, we and all other first responders would be hopelessly unable to provide our absolute best service to the Casper community. Although they may sometimes go unnoticed or under-appreciated, these men and women are essential to emergency response, and we at the CFD would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of them.

THANK YOU, Casper Telecommunicators!

Yesterday, City of Casper Fire-EMS Department firefighters participated in a multi-agency hazardous materials drill with BNSF Railway - focused on enhancing the Local Emergency Response Plan (LERP), and taking advantage of the unique opportunity to practice skills on real rail cars and equipment.

Our gratitude to BNSF for the invitation, professionalism, and strong partnership that we share!

Firefighters and BNSF personnel will also be performing similar drills tomorrow (Thursday, April 16th)

(September 2, 2025) – The Casper Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with multiple arson cases in the community.

At approximately 9:00 pm on Friday, August 29, 2025, the Casper Police Department and Casper Fire-EMS responded to reports of two separate fires: one in the 700 block of East C Street and another near Burlington Avenue and North McKinley Street. Both fires were quickly contained. The initial investigation revealed both fires were believed to be intentionally set.

Detectives identified similarities between these incidents and several other recent arsons in Casper. A person of interest from earlier incidents was interviewed and subsequently arrested on one count of first-degree arson for a May 19, 2025, fire at a two-story building in the 1600 block of East Yellowstone Highway, as well as two counts of fourth-degree arson for the August 29, 2025, fires. Additional charges are pending for this individual for prior suspected arsons as the investigation continues.

“Arson is a deliberate act that puts lives at risk and endangers our entire community,” said Casper Police Detective Leonard Jacobs. “These reckless crimes will not be tolerated. We will continue our investigation to bring those responsible to justice.”

The Casper Police Department thanks the City of Casper Fire-EMS Department for their swift response and expertise in safely extinguishing these fires and assisting with the ongoing investigation.

The Casper Police Department is dedicated to the protection and safety of our community through the highest standards of professionalism in police services.

This week we welcomed the largest recruit academy in Casper in almost 40 years! We’re proud to launch our in-house joint fire academy with Natrona County Fire Protection District (NCFPD), welcoming 10 new Casper Fire-EMS recruits and 2 NCFPD recruits.

This dynamic class is already putting teamwork into practice—tackling fitness drills, bunker exercises, confined space challenges, and more. Huge thanks to our amazing instructors, including Captain Andrew Sundell, Captain Justin Thompson, Engineer Bridger Miller, Engineer Cody Parke, and Natrona County Engineer Eric Brandon, as well as Fire Station 3 for hosting this journey. Let’s extend our support and encouragement to all our new firefighters as they begin their career of service, professionalism, and camaraderie!
