The League of Women Voters of Mendocino County, CA, is a group of women and men who participate in monthly meetings from September-May. It is based in Fort Bragg, Mendocino County, CA and chapter meetings are held at the Caspar, CA Community Center. The 501(c)(4)organization conducts candidate forums and engages in education and advocacy on local positions involving county government, natural reso

urces, libraries, special districts, the coast healthcare district and other interests. The group is allied with the state and national League of Women Voters.

As part of a series on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Indian Country Today explores how the Haudenosaunee Confederacy showed American colonizers an example of a thriving democracy, in which distinct communities could remain sovereign, yet still be united under one government.

It is an example that played a critical role in the development of the U.S. Constitution and democratic framework. At the same time, there are still lessons that should be learned from the Haudenosaunee people, including those surrounding environmental issues and global Indigenous rights.

Join Indivisible Mendocino Coast for an afternoon of music, community, and celebration as we gather to watch Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment.

Bring your friends, family, and your singing voice for this special livestream event featuring an all-star lineup of performers. Together we’ll enjoy an uplifting concert celebrating the freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment - freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and protest - and the people power that helps protect them.

This is the concert’s only public broadcast, so don’t miss the opportunity to experience it with friends and neighbors. We’ll also have Fourth of July sign-making materials available for anyone who wants to get creative while celebrating democracy and community.
