Great read.

Peanut Butter SandwichBy Executive Director Claire LougeI recently had coffee with a colleague who told me a story that’s too good not to share. If someone says they love you—but you feel smaller every day—pay attention.

Emotional abuse isn’t just “a bad argument.” It’s a pattern of control using shaming, constant criticism, blame, manipulation, and gaslighting to make you doubt yourself and rely on them.

It often starts subtly: jealousy framed as “caring,” checking your phone “for reassurance,” or pressuring you to spend less time with friends. Over time, it can grow into isolation, threats, and coercive control—and in some cases, it can escalate into physical violence.

Help and healing are possible 💜 Building a safety plan and connecting with supportive advocates can make leaving safer and help you rebuild your confidence and independence.

What does a safe learning environment look like for you?

If you could set up the optimal learning environment for yourself, what would that include? How would it feel?

Do you enjoy my posts about parenting? This post made the cut for my latest book. It’s a concept I’ve never seen before and I’m excited to be the first content creator to do this. I’ve taken my posts and created a book. The book is visually appealing and easy to read, just like when we scroll online or read a book to our child. You can read one post or a whole section. I know I’m bias but it is a must have for all parents who enjoy this page. It is also a way to pass on the knowledge you have gained from this account, to someone else.
