Motorists traveling through the area of US 25W and Elkins Road this Saturday should be aware of a fundraising roadblock benefiting the Jacksboro Middle School Boys Basketball Team.

Year after year, they take the time to remember the sacrifices made on 9/11 and to show appreciation to those who continue to serve our communities today.

🇺🇸 WE REMEMBER — 25 YEARS LATER 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced a darkness and heartbreak that words can never fully describe.

On September 11, 2001, innocent lives were taken, families were forever changed, and brave first responders ran toward danger while others were running away. Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, military personnel, and ordinary Americans showed the world what courage, sacrifice, and service truly mean.

Today, the Caryville Police Department pauses to remember every life lost, every family that still carries the pain, and every hero who answered the call that day and in the difficult days and years that followed.

Twenty-five years have passed, but we have not forgotten.

We remember the fear and the sorrow.
We remember the courage and sacrifice.
And we remember how, in the midst of tragedy, Americans came together as one.

May we honor those we lost not only with our words, but by carrying forward the unity, compassion, courage, and love of country that followed that terrible day.

May God continue to comfort the families who still grieve, bless our first responders and military, and watch over the United States of America.

Caryville Police Department — Statement of Condolence

It is with profound sadness that the Caryville Police Department joins the law enforcement community in mourning the passing of former Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler.

Sheriff Spangler concluded his service as Knox County Sheriff on August 31, just days ago, and died this evening following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

To many of us, however, Tom Spangler was much more than a Sheriff. He was a friend, a humble professional, and a true servant of people.

I personally witnessed the kind of man Sheriff Spangler was during a difficult time involving former Morgan County Sheriff Wayne Potter. Sheriff Spangler stood beside us at the hospital, spent time with Sheriff Potter, and made it clear that every resource and every bit of assistance he could provide was available to us. He didn't do it for recognition. He did it because that was simply the kind of man he was.

There are people who hold a title, and then there are people who give meaning to the title they hold. Sheriff Tom Spangler was one of those people.

I can only imagine the honors and tremendous outpouring of love and support that will be shown to this good man in the coming days. They will be well deserved. His service touched countless lives, and his example of humility, compassion, and leadership will live on long after his final watch.

On behalf of myself and every member of the Caryville Police Department and the Town of Caryville, we extend our deepest condolences to Sheriff Spangler's family, his friends, and the men and women of the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

We pray that God surrounds his family with comfort and peace during the difficult days ahead.

We honor a Sheriff. We remember a friend. And we give thanks for the life and service of a good, good man.

Rest easy, Sheriff Spangler. Your watch is complete.

🚗Expect heavy traffic to begin around 3:00 PM and continue until 8:00 PM
🚨Rangers will be placed at park entrance points to direct visitors into parking areas.

The 78-year-old is 6' tall, 160 lbs., with gray hair and blue eyes, last seen Friday wearing a red plaid shirt and dark jeans.

Walker was last seen in the area of Chapman Highway and may be driving this 2010 Acura MDX with TN tag BSH-1972. (Note the distinguishing damage and stickers.) He has a medical condition that may impair his ability to return safely without assistance.
