⚠️ System Pressure Advisory Issued Following Water Main Break on N.C. 55

A System Pressure Advisory is in effect for water customers in Cary and Morrisville within the Central Pressure Zone following a 30-inch water main break early this morning.

💧 Affected customers are advised to boil water used for human consumption for one minute or use bottled water while the advisory is in effect. Customers are also strongly encouraged to conserve water whenever possible.

🚧 N.C. 55 is closed in both directions between Jenks Road/Old Jenks Road and Lewey Drive/Turner Creek Road. One lane in each direction is expected to reopen by 7 a.m., conditions permitting.

The advisory will remain in effect through at least 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, September 15. We’ll provide another update by noon today and share additional information as conditions change.

The Soccer Tournament generated an estimated $16.2 million in direct economic impact this year, up 10% from 2025. Nearly 58,000 people showed up, with over 23,000 overnight visitors filling local hotels and supporting our businesses.

The behind-the-scenes numbers are wild too: 76 teams, 2,000+ athletes from 27 countries, and, for the first time, three $1 million winner-take-all matches. The NBC Sports semifinal pulled in 433,000 viewers, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗦𝗧 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟴𝟬 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀.

Also - the Cary Cup youth tournament added another $1.48 million in economic impact and welcomed 10,000 attendees in its second year.

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day, Cary! 🇺🇸
The first Labor Day was celebrated in New York City on September 5, 1882, when thousands of workers and their families gathered for a parade, speeches, and a picnic. The idea grew out of the labor movement’s effort to recognize the contributions of working people and the importance of better working conditions. In 1894, Congress made the first Monday in September a federal holiday.

And Cary has its own labor story.

Long before Cary became the community we know today, Frank Page arrived in the 1850s and built a sawmill, general store, inn, and post office. The arrival of the railroad helped Cary grow, and agriculture, mills, shops, small businesses and the people who worked in them helped build the Cary community.

Today, our Cary workforce looks very different, yet our basic truth hasn’t changed: communities are built by people who show up and do the work.

It's important that we also don't forget the people working today while many of us are enjoying a day off. ❤️ Many thanks!

Thank you, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, for such a special moment at Cary Town Hall this week. 🧡

HSS shared the beautiful tradition of Raksha Bandhan with us, tying a red bracelet on our wrists as a symbol of protection, good luck, and a loving bond with one another. They have done this tradition with the Town since 2009, with Councilmembers, Public Safety and our Staff, and each year it is a wonderful reminder of the bond between all of us, what is called "Universal Oneness Day" - this reminder that we're all connected and responsible for each other's wellbeing.

I am so grateful for HSS's generosity, their countless hours doing volunteer work in our community, and for continuing to welcome us into this meaningful tradition. Cary is lucky to have you.
