During National Police Week 2026, we pause to honor and remember Officer Evan Burns of the Caruthersville Police Department, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on August 16, 2011.

Evan was more than a police officer. Evan was a son, a father, a brother, a friend, and a brother to those who served beside him. He wore the badge with courage, dedication, and pride, giving everything he had to protect the community he loved.

His sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his legacy continues to live on through the officers who still answer the call each day.

This week, and every week, we remember Officer Evan Burns and all law enforcement officers who gave their lives in service to others.

The Missouri Department of Conservation is seeking information about a Bald Eagle found shot southeast of the intersection of East 8th street and Bushey Avenue in Caruthersville, Missouri on April 13, 2026.
