🔬Do you have high schoolers interested in research opportunities?!

🧪The North Carolina Youth Institute is an amazing opportunity for students interested in agriculture, food systems, natural resources, or STEM.

The North Carolina Youth Institute is open to all high school students. Students get to attend both days of the NC Youth Institute at NC State on April 15-16, 2027. During the institute, youth will dig into labs and activities, shadow graduate student mentors in the lab, and present both a scientific poster and a research paper to leading experts in agriculture and science.

This program spans all areas: livestock, poultry science, horticulture, agronomy, soils, entomology, forestry, wildlife, nutrition, policy, and more.

Montgomery County is inviting surrounding areas to its 4-H Annual Chicken Show on September 4th at 5:00 PM!

Youth ages 5–18 are welcome to participate. If you know a young person who would like to try showing chickens but doesn't have a bird, they are happy to help arrange for them to borrow one and give chicken showing a try!

The show will include:

Showmanship
Breed Classes (if enough of the same breed are entered)
Rooster Class
Parent Class
Chicken Costume Contest! 🐔

Registration begins at 4:00 PM, and NCDA will be on-site to bleed birds before the show.

The NC State Fair is quickly approaching, from October 15-25, 2026, and we are excited to announce the NC State Fair 4-H Competitions!

- Saturday, October 10 from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

Hay bale decorating must be completed from Saturday, October 10 through Monday, October 12.

Competition is open to North Carolina residents only, and youth must be registered in 4-H online. Two entries per exhibitor, per class.

Moore County 4-H is looking for Shooting Sports VOLUNTEERS🏹!

Many youth throughout the county are interested in getting involved in the 4-H Shooting Sports program, but we need volunteers to help us facilitate it! If you have any experience with fi****ms and would like to influence the next generation, please keep reading!

🍀Requirements for Volunteers:
1. Enroll in 4-H and complete a 4-H Background Check
2. Provide 3 References
3. Attend 4-H Youth Shooting Sports Instructor Training (paid for by Moore County 4-H)

🍀The program works with ages 8-18, in different disciplines including: archery, air pistol, small bore pistol, r***e, air r***e, sh***un, and muzzle loading. You can be trained in all of the disciplines, or only a few; whatever you are up for!
