Summer is almost officially over… which means the kids are heading back to school and the roads are about to get a little busier!

So, as the buses start running their routes Monday and everyone settles back into the school-year routine, let’s all remember one important thing: SLOW DOWN and WATCH FOR KIDS! Keep an eye out for children walking to school, riding bikes, waiting at bus stops, and especially those who suddenly decide that the best place to cross the street is wherever they happen to be standing.

Let’s all do our part to make sure everyone gets to school safely. Slow down, stay alert, and watch for our kids!

If someone tells you to send money using:
* Apple Pay
* Green Dot cards
* Cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, etc.)
* Gift cards
* Any other digital payment method

It is a SCAM!

If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately. Do not send money or provide personal or financial information.

If you're unsure whether a call is legitimate, contact the Jasper County Sheriff's Office directly using its official, publicly listed phone number—NOT the number that called you.

On Thursday, July 17, 2026, Jasper County Sheriff deputies responded to a residence near the area of Lone Elm and Hickory Hills in Joplin, Missouri in reference to a stolen motorcycle. Surveillance cameras captured the following individual who is a suspect in the investigation.
The sheriff's office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. These images are being released in hopes that someone may recognize the individual and provide information that will assist with the investigation. Included is a photo of the stolen motorcycle; a 2018 Harley Davidson Street Glide

On July 20th, 2026, at approximately 4:00 PM, Jasper County Deputies were notified that Joplin Police Department had been in a pursuit with a White Chevy pickup truck with temp tags and the truck was last seen East bound on I-44.

At approximately 6:00 PM, Jasper County Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance in progress at a residence on Cimarron Road near Carthage involving a male in a White Chevy truck that had tried to enter their residence by kicking in the front door. Deputies searched the area and located the truck and a pursuit was initiated. The truck began driving erratically and went off the roadway several times. Deputies lost sight of the truck and a property owner near Fir Road and South Grand Avenue in Carthage notified Deputies that he saw the truck drive behind the Church of Christ into a field. The truck was located abandoned in the tree line and a perimeter was set up by several assisting agencies.

A drone and Joplin Police K-9 were sent to search the area, and the drone located the male hiding in the brush a short while later. The Joplin K-9 and Jasper County Deputies located and arrested the male without incident.

The male was identified as Shawn M. Orr, 40, of Branson. Charges have been submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor on Orr for First Degree Burglary, Resisting Arrest by fleeing (Valentine’s Law) and DWI.

More charges are expected as the investigation continues.

Jasper County Sheriff's Office Searching for Suspect

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is actively searching for a white male suspect who fled from his vehicle in the area southeast of Carthage Ford on Fir Road.

The suspect was last seen traveling east of the Church of Christ. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Residents in the area are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. Do not approach or attempt to make contact with the suspect.

If you see anything suspicious or have information regarding the suspect's whereabouts, please call 911 immediately.

Jasper County Sheriff's Office Arrests Reeds Man Following Investigation of Crimes Against Children

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office has arrested 32-year-old Brian Ayala Garcia of Reeds, Missouri, following an extensive investigation conducted by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division.
As a result of the investigation, Detectives developed probable cause that Garcia committed multiple felony offenses against juvenile victims.

Garcia was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Jasper County Detention Center.

Charges have been submitted to the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's Office against Garcia for the following offenses:
• Three counts of Statutory R**e in the Second Degree
• Three counts of So**my in the Second Degree
• Three counts of Child Molestation in the Second Degree
• One count of Enticement of a Child

The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be filed as detectives continue to review
evidence and pursue additional investigative leads.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office remains committed to investigating crimes involving the exploitation
of children and holding offenders accountable. Anyone with information that may be relevant to this

Final Day - Junior Deputy Camp
Day four of the annual Junior Deputy Camp began with a look into investigative procedures. Campers learned the fundamentals of fingerprinting, DNA recovery, blood spatter analysis, and crime scene processing.

After lunch, the group visited the Jasper County Courthouse, where Charlie Davis explained how the courthouse mural tells the story and history of Jasper County. The campers had the opportunity to sit down with Judge Nicholas, who answered questions and gave them an inside look at courtroom proceedings and the judicial process.

The day concluded back at the Sheriff's Office, where the campers put everything, they had learned to the test by investigating a mock crime scene. Sheriff Kaiser answered questions and presented a challenge coin to all of this year’s participants. We are proud to have been able to offer a hands-on experience to the many aspects of law enforcement.
