🩷 Thank You Thursday

Yesterday, NCDPI released accountability results from the 2025-2026 school year, and today, we want to recognize the people behind those results. Among this year’s highlights, grade-level proficiency reached a 10-year high, our four-year graduation rate reached 91.8 percent and continued to surpass the state average, and, for the first time, two MCS schools earned A performance grades, with Pinehurst Elementary earning the distinction for the fourth consecutive year and Moore Innovative High School earning the distinction in its inaugural year.

🎓 Thank you to our students for working hard, challenging yourselves and putting in the effort each day to learn and grow.

🍎 Thank you to our teachers and all MCS employees for the many ways you engage, inspire and support our students each and every day.

🏠 Thank you to our parents and guardians for ensuring students are present, prepared and supported throughout the school year.

🤝 Thank you to our community for supporting our students and schools in countless ways, from volunteering and donating supplies to supporting athletics, the arts and many other programs and activities that enrich our students’ educational experience.

These results reflect the hard work, dedication and support of people throughout Moore County. Every lesson taught, every assignment completed, every encouraging word and every act of support contributes to the success of our students.

Thank you, Team MCS! We are proud of what we accomplished together and excited to continue that momentum throughout the 2026-2027 school year!

📚 Make It Count Monday

Today, we’re taking you inside a kindergarten classroom to see how students and teachers are making instructional time count!

This year, Moore County Schools is emphasizing a 70/30 approach to instructional time, with at least 70% focused on active, hands-on learning and no more than 30% involving technology.

Kindergarten students are reading, participating and engaging with their teacher and classmates.

It’s one example of what active learning looks like across MCS.

🎒📚 Welcome Back, Moore County Schools!

What a great first day of school across MCS!

Our schools were filled with excitement as students returned to their classrooms, reconnected with old friends, met new ones and began another year of learning and growing together.

From our youngest learners beginning a new adventure to our seniors starting their final year with MCS, it was wonderful to see so many smiles and memorable first-day moments across the district.

Thank you to our parents, guardians and families for helping us start the year strong and for supporting our students each day. We also appreciate our teachers, administrators, support staff, bus drivers, child nutrition teams and all MCS employees who worked to make today a successful first day.

We’re excited for all that the 2026-2027 school year has in store. Here’s to a great year, MCS! 🎉

🚌 We Need More Bus Drivers. Join the MCS Team!

The Moore County Board of Education has approved increased bus driver pay, with starting pay now at $20 per hour and pay up to $24.15 per hour.

Our bus drivers are essential members of the Moore County Schools team. Every day, they help ensure our students get to and from school safely while making a meaningful difference for the families we serve. We are incredibly grateful for our current drivers and believe their important work deserves competitive pay. ❤️

Now, we need more people to join them. With the new school year quickly approaching, several bus driver positions remain open, and filling those vacancies is critical to providing dependable transportation for our students and families.

If you are looking for an opportunity to serve your community, support students, and make an impact every day, we encourage you to apply today.
