🎉 This evening, we celebrated a historic and meaningful milestone as Jennifer Purvis was officially sworn in and took the Oath of Office to serve as Superintendent of Moore County Schools, effective July 1, 2026.

The ceremony featured welcoming remarks from Board of Education Chair Dr. Robin Calcutt and the administration of the Oath of Office by Mickey Brown.

We were honored to be joined by the Moore County Commissioners, Board of Education members, municipal leaders, community partners, employees, family members, and friends as we recognized Superintendent Purvis and the bright future ahead for our district.

🏆 Third in the World! 🌎

Congratulations to Pinecrest High School students Lila Aldridge, Harper Aldridge, Joel Cuthrell, Nora Kuzma, and Aidan Waters for earning Third Place at the 2026 Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Iowa State University!

After placing first in the Eastern Region competition and second at the North Carolina State Finals, the team advanced to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals, where they competed against 43 domestic and international teams in Problem 3, The Epic Quest. Their original solution, featuring an epic quest to restore the melody to music, showcased creativity, teamwork, and innovative problem-solving, earning them a remarkable third-place finish in the world.

Competing under the sponsorship of FirstHealth of the Carolinas, these students have spent years developing their creative problem-solving skills through Odyssey of the Mind. Having competed together since elementary school, they concluded their season with an extraordinary accomplishment on the world stage.

From Student to Superintendent 💚

Please join us in congratulating Jennifer Purvis on her appointment as Superintendent of Moore County Schools, effective July 1, 2026.

A lifelong Moore County resident, Moore County Schools graduate, and dedicated educator, Mrs. Purvis has devoted nearly 32 years to serving the students, staff, families, and communities of Moore County Schools. Throughout her career, she has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, interim superintendent, and now superintendent.

Her appointment represents a remarkable full-circle journey. From attending Robbins Elementary School and graduating from North Moore High School to leading the very district that helped shape her life, Mrs. Purvis has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public education and the Moore County community.

We are excited about the future of Moore County Schools under her leadership and grateful for her continued dedication to our district.

💡 Celebrating Innovation, Achievement, and Opportunity! 🚀

Moore County Schools recently hosted its third annual STEM and Technology Awards Day, recognizing outstanding students, educators, and programs that are helping shape the future through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Congratulations to Pinecrest High School senior Reece Carlson and North Moore High School senior Emma Morgan, recipients of the 2026 Frick Technology Achievement Awards. Their accomplishments, leadership, and commitment to excellence exemplify the bright future of STEM education.

We congratulate the West Pine Middle School robotics team, “Zero Sugar Cherry Dr Pepper 2,” for earning first place in the district's Middle School Robotics Competition by demonstrating exceptional programming, engineering, and problem-solving skills.

Additionally, we are proud to recognize Kathy Slate of The Community Learning Center at Pinckney as the 2026 STEM and Computer Science Teacher of the Year for her dedication to inspiring students through innovative and engaging learning experiences.

A special thank you to Mr. Ed Frick for his continued investment in our students and to Interim Superintendent Jenny Purvis for highlighting the importance of STEM education in preparing students for tomorrow's opportunities.
