Today was the debut of our Smith County 4-H Green Team, and we couldn’t be more proud of this group of 4-H’ers! 🍀 Thank you to Smith County Farm Bureau for organizing a great Agriculture Appreciation Breakfast for the community. Our local Farm Bureau, along with Smith County FCE Clubs and 4-H Volunteer Lisa Harville, have been instrumental in getting our Green Team initiative off the ground. Our 4-H and FFA members are the future of agriculture in our community and beyond. It was a good morning to get together!

🦝🍀🐿️🐾 STATE 4-H WILDLIFE JUDGING CHAMPS 🐾🦆🍀🐟

Last week on June 10th & 11th Smith County 4-H’ers Easton Bibbings, Emmy Bibbings, Turner Harville, and Owen Meeks traveled to the Latimer Scout Reservation in Spencer, Tennessee, to compete in the 2026 State 4-H Wildlife Judging Contest. This team earned a bid to the state contest after placing 1st at the Central Region competition on May 12th.

Our Smith County team emerged victorious against 7 other competitive teams from across the state. Turner was the 1st Place High Individual, Easton placed 2nd, Owen placed 3rd, and Emmy placed 8th overall. Congratulations to this team and volunteer coach Carson Meeks for achieving this impressive victory!

These 4-H’ers now have their sights set on the National 4-H Wildlife Judging Contest which will be held in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, at the end of July. Best of luck to this group as they represent Smith County and Tennessee 4-H on the national stage this summer! 🍀

Did you know that June is ?

Smith County 4-H recently took a field trip to the Middle Tennessee State University Dairy Farm, where we enjoyed an educational tour led by Dr. Jessica Carter. 🐄💙

The dairy industry is a vital part of agriculture, providing nutritious products for families across our state and nation. We are grateful that our 4-H’ers had the opportunity to get a firsthand look at the dedication, hard work, and care that dairy producers invest each day to ensure high-quality dairy products reach our shelves.

Happy National Dairy Month, Smith County! Be sure to thank a dairy farmer for all they do to keep America fed. 🌾🍀☀️🐄

As we look back on our week at 4-H Camp, we want to give a special shout-out to all of the volunteers that make camp a safe and fun experience for all of our happy campers! 😎🏕️🍀 This year, Smith County 4-H was supported by adult leaders Brittany Jones, Luke Magness, Jacob Tipton, summer Extension Intern Courtney Dickens, and our very own Ag Agent Will Herbert. Callie Butler and Keaton Crawford were our Teen Leaders for the week. We are so grateful for all the folks that help make camp happen - especially our crew from Smith County!

Last week, two of our Smith County 4-H’ers, Katelyn Kooken and Luke Chartier, spent the week on the campus of the University of Tennessee Knoxville at Tennessee 4-H Junior High Academic Conference. Luke attended in the Plant Science project area, and Katelyn attended in the Veterinary Science project area. 🌱🐑🔬🐄 At Academic Conference, 4-H’ers get to live out the 4-H slogan - Learn By Doing! 🍀 Check out these cool pics of Luke and Katelyn from the week!

Last day, best day at 4-H Camp! 🍀

Today, our 4-H’ers had a full day of play! Fishing, swimming, archery, rifles, ziplining, kayaking, crafts, games… Our campers did it all! To top it all off, we ended the night with a movie and a glow dance in the rec hall! 🪩🍿💿

We have had so much fun at camp this week, but we are ready to head back home sweet home to Smith County! 🏕️

4-H Camp Day 3 ✅

Today, our Smith County 4-H’ers got to enjoy all the fun that camp has to offer, including a foam party to end the night! ☀️😎💦

Today was also Smith County’s day to raise and lower flags and clean up the dining hall after meals. It takes all of us pitching in to make camp happen! 🍀

One more full day! We’re gonna make the most of it!
