Calling all poultry people! 🐔🥚🍀If you or someone you know is in the market for some nice laying hens, we would love to see you at our 2026 4-H Chick Chain Show & Sale on Tuesday, September 29th at the Smith County Ag Center.

The show will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the auction to follow immediately after. Black Star and Red Star hens will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the sale support our hardworking Smith County 4-H members in the Chick Chain project.

Join us for the Tennessee Master Forage Program Tour hosted by UT TSU Extension-Smith County!
Come out for a hands-on, multi-county forage tour where producers can learn practical management strategies to improve their operations. Topics will include soil/hay testing, w**d management, grazing management, and more!
This is a great opportunity to ask questions, connect with speakers, and network with fellow producers from across the region.

On Thursday, September 10th, UT-TSU Smith County Extension will be hosting a Lunch and Learn at the Chamber on Fall Gardening Tips and Tricks with guest speaker Lucas Holman from Wilson County Extension! Today, 5 Smith County 4-H’ers competed in the 2026 Central Region 4-H Forestry Judging Contest, which was held at the Wilson County Fair - TN State Fair as part of the Year of Forestry celebration. We are so proud of all of our 4-H’ers for placing in the Top 10 in their age division!

In the Junior Division, Colten Yerge placed 2nd individually, and Russell Hodges placed 5th.

In the Junior High Division, Kyler Yerge placed 3rd individually, and Amelia Hodges placed 10th.

In the Senior High Division, Luke Chartier placed 2nd individually.

Way to go to this great group of tree nerds! 🌳🍁🥾☘️
