From Leake County Emergency Management : Just got off conference call with NWS. Forecast is probable for the development of a major winter storm for this weekend. Leake and other central Ms counties are now under a Significant Level 3 risk. Looks like timing will be starting around midnight or so Friday night into Saturday with some lingering precipitation ending Sunday. Main impact will be freezing rain and sleet. Impacts to roads, bridges, overpasses, trees, and utilities are expected. Temperatures are not likely to get above freezing until early next week posing problems with thawing of any ice. This is still a developing situation several days out and forecast will likely change as forecast models update. Will provide updates as we receive them. Everyone just be prepared and be careful.
