Just a little reminder, your Smith County 911 and Smith County EMS employees are on duty and working to serve you on this beautiful Saturday. Team work is what gets things done….this photo was taken by Critical Care Paramedic Kelsey Doss. Her and her partner AEMT (soon to be Paramedic) Kelsey Ashburn along with the help of Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Jimmy Gregory, and the Gordonsville Police Department, successfully resuscitated a Cardiac Arrest patient and then our friends from Air Evac responded and rapidly transported that patient to Nashville for further care. Excellent work by all involved and I am proud to have the opportunity to oversee such a fine group at 911 and EMS. Thanks for what all of you do for Smith County and thanks to Sheriff Steve Hopper for allowing his Deputies to carry those very important pieces of equipment, AED’s and rapidly respond with us on calls when they are available to do so. Thanks to Gordonsville Fire Department for your assistance as well. When everybody is 1 Team and seamlessly works together, great things can be accomplished! Our prayers are with the patient and family and we certainly hope for a positive outcome.

Another great day today of food a fellowship. We would like to give our good friend Tim Booher and Air Evac a huge thanks for providing us with some of that good ole Monroe County BBQ and all the fixings for lunch. Had plenty for the whole crew and actually only had 1 call while eating, but that crew got to come back and finish after the fact. We also had shaved ice with assorted flavors provided by EMS Deputy Director Terry Givens. (He has his own machine….💪🏽)Thanks to all who attended!

Great day today for EMS Week. We gathered at the Ag Center for lunch from the one and only Dairy Burger. Had a great crowd and everybody chose what they wanted from the menu and even had several options for desert. If you haven’t tried it, I heard good things about the Hot Fudge Cake as well as the Ice Cream Nachos!

We greatly appreciate Riverview Regional with Ascension St. Thomas for providing lunch from the Dairy Burger.

Thanks to all of our local businesses who provided Gift Cards or Gifts for our employees. We were able to draw almost 3 rounds with everything that was provided with each employee getting at least 2 gifts and some 3. A lot of folks to thank for making that possible and they will be highlighted a little later.

We also handed out some awards which will be announced later in the week. We hope everybody enjoyed today with more to come!

We will have more to come as the week goes on, as we celebrate them all week in different ways. This is the one week a year that is set aside to celebrate them and show them appreciation, but I appreciate them 24/7/365……🚑🚨🇺🇸

If you see them out, no matter when it is, this week or any week, take a second and thank them for what they do. Not just anybody can do the job and do it well.
