Don't forget to bring a copy of your schedule to our office any time you make changes to your schedule! Have a great day.

Welcome to Rebecca Skipper who is now the new advsior/counselor in the Veteran's Services Office. It has been my privilege to work for and with veterans since this office's inception three years ago. Rebecca is a veteran herself and will work hard to help all JALC veterans achieve their educational goals. Even though my personal retirement is about to begin, I will be around and happy to see you all wherever! Good luck in all you do.

After you register for summer and fall classes, do not forget to bring copies of your schedules to the Veterans Services Office so we can begin certification processing. The earlier you can do so, the better. We will check your enrollment against your educational major to insure that all classes you have signed up for are eligible for benefits under your chapter. DO NOT FORGET! This is important!

Advisement begins today for summer and fall semesters. If you register in the Veterans Office, contact Becky McGee ASAP to make an appointment.

Vets: You may find one of these service clubs to your liking. The VFW or Veterans of Foreign Wars is a good place to get together with other vets who have similar experiences. Eligibility requires the award of a campaign medal or 30 or more days of consecutive service in Korea. The American Legion is also a great club and doesn't have the campaign medal requirement. Check them out! There are VFW and American Legion posts in Marion Carbondale, Murphysboro, West Frankfort and DuQuoin.

Just a quick note about changing schedules: Remember your benefits are based on whether you are full time (12 hours or more), 3/4 (9 to 11), 1/2 (6 to 8) or less than half. When you drop classes, VA will look at your payments retroactively. That means if you go from full to 3/4, they will consider you 3/4 for the whole semester. They'll want 25% of what they have paid you back. That will put you in repayment. If you make any change to your schedule at all, come by our office so we can tell you what it means to you benefits-wise!

Please remember as we move toward the holidays: If you haven't yet signed up for spring classes, do so ASAP! Time's running short! And if you have signed up but haven't brought a copy of your schedule by our office, do so at once so we can start to process your benefits for the spring term!
