Bartow County Fire & Emergency Services Responds

August 20th Press Release...

At approximately 9:03 a.m., Bartow County Fire & Emergency Services were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire located at 4829 Joe Frank Harris Parkway NW in Adairsville. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from a one-story single-family residence. Crews quickly initiated fire suppression efforts. Once the fire was brought under control, personnel remained on scene to perform overhaul operations and check for
any hidden fire extension. The residence sustained significant fire, smoke, and water damage. No injuries were reported.

Fire investigators were requested to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire. At this time, the cause remains undetermined.

Bartow County Fire & Emergency Services is pleased to announce that we are teaming up with the American Red Cross as part of their Sound the Alarm Campaign. Together, we will be working to install free smoke alarms for residents throughout Bartow County in an effort to make our community safer and better prepared in the event of a fire.

This collaborative initiative focuses on reducing home fire fatalities and ensuring families have the tools and knowledge they need to stay protected. The Fire Marshal Office will be setting up dates and times to provide smoke alarm installations, check existing alarms, and share important fire safety education information to the citizens of Bartow County.

If you or someone you know is in need of a smoke alarm(s) or would like more information about the campaign, please have them contact the Fire Marshal Office to setup an onsite visit to their home or visit the American Red Cross Sound the Alarm webpage at www.redcross.org/sound-the-alarm to learn more.

At 623 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was over Stilesboro, or 9 miles
southwest of Cartersville, moving southeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...40 to 50 mph wind, pea sized hail and frequent cloud to
ground lightning.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
light, unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Cartersville, Dallas, Kennesaw, Acworth, Euharlee, Hiram, Braswell,
Taylorsville, Burnt Hickory Ridge, Lost Mountain Park, Cross Roads,
Due West, Stilesboro, and New Hope.

southeast of Calhoun, moving southeast at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Up to 40 mph wind, frequent cloud to ground lightning and
heavy rain.

IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
light, unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary
street flooding especially in poor drainage areas.
