Today, Grant County and the State Emergency Communications Center (SECC, formerly State Radio) are conducting final testing as we prepare to become one of the first ECC counties in North Dakota to transition to the new Statewide Interoperable Radio Network (SIRN) 800 MHz system. SIRN is designed to provide seamless communications between law enforcement, fire, EMS, emergency management, dispatch centers, and state agencies across North Dakota.

For Grant County, this is a major upgrade. We are moving from a system that relied on two primary tower sites and one repeater site to a network of six tower sites covering the county. This expanded infrastructure will provide stronger coverage, clearer communications, and greater reliability for first responders wherever an emergency occurs in the county.

The benefits are simple but critical:
Improved radio coverage throughout Grant County.
Better communication between local, regional, and state responders.
More reliable communications during emergencies and severe weather.
Modern, interoperable technology that helps keep first responders and the public safer.

This transition is the result of years of planning and cooperation between local agencies, SECC, and the State of North Dakota, and many other organizations. We are excited as SIRN continues its rollout across the state.
